Roosey with Sheahan and Healey

The links suggests 600000 but Roos gives no indication of such at all.

Subterfuge.

Misdirection.

"Fine, you don't want to be reasonable in your trade demands, we'll instead send pick X to someone else for YYYY"

If he stays at richmond it will almost certainly force out a Conca or alike.

If he heads up north somewhere on huge coin there will be collateral damage out of that too.

And if he expresses an interest in Mebourne there is no downside to doing our due diligence.

At the very least we are potentially pumping his price tag, and his ego upward

When was the last time a prosepective suitor came out and gave up a dollar value through the media. I don't think Paul Roos and Josh Mahoney are throwing figures around off the cuff for fun this far out from drafting time.

It would be foolish to take the words of any party on face value, there are plots afoot no doubt.

There was a lot not to like about the Mark Neeld era. But he did change one thing for the better. Quality players - ie, Mitch Clark and Chris Dawes - decided to come to Melbourne. Prior to them coming, the last name player who had a choice and chose to come to Melbourne was...who? Kelvin Templeton?

I see this as a win win situation. If we can obtain Martin so be it, it's a win. Although I would concerned about his off field misdemeanors. If he decides to re-sign with Richmond it's a win as we've driven his price up and subsequently tightened the Richmond salary cap, reducing their odds as a competitor over a couple trade periods.

Ideally I would prefer the later and use the money on say a Rockcliff, Sloane, S. Selwood or even D. Swallow but if it eventuates I won't be complaining.

Surely we would need to establish if he has a "clean sheet" or not before getting too excited and even then have a few weasel clauses ready for any future indiscretions. $600 large is worthy of reasonable due diligence. But I'm sure our recruiters would be all over this.

theres no harm getting this player what could he do to sabotage the club that badly.

Grow some and realise that we have to improve our list to improve our performances.

he is a great start at least!

It's fun reading all the opinions about the benefits and drawbacks of hiring Martin and the hints as to why he is a very naughty boy or maybe the messiah.

But I expect none of us really know the extent to which he is a reformed or reformable character, Richmond's real intentions in acting as they have etc. Whereas Roos and co would be closer to the inside info.

So once again I'm in the namby-pamby sitting-n-the-fence camp of saying "in Roos we trust". At this stage we don't have much option.

Actually we saw very little of Kelvin Templeton [as he broke down as soon as he arrived from the doggies] but we did see a lot of the former Collingwood Captain who we recruited at the same time. Peter Moore was a champion for us!

Thought it rather odd that Vladimir weighed in with comments suggesting Martin get on with it.

AD must be into micromanaging now

Look forward to him cloning himself 21 times, no 43 times, and fielding 2 teams of himself.

I'd pay good money to watch him bash the [censored] out of himself.

Have just caught up separately with two very keen Richmond supporters. Both would be happy for Martin to leave Richmond. While neither is connected to the club in any capacity, it still worries me that supporters are that keen to see the back of him. Rings my alarm bells.

Thats because there are articles saying he is leaving.

Remeber the [censored] storm on here when Jack Watts was on the footy show and didnt seem too sure about staying?

Does this scenario work - Martin nominates for PSD with his terms and a preference for Melbourne - GWS can't fit him into their overszed cap (especially if they have Buddy) so he comes to us without losing a ND pick??

It could also be defence mechanism. When Scully left, all of a sudden he wasn't a saviour, he was just a footballer, who left for cash.

Someone here mentioned and I think it's a valid point - if Martin is as bad as he is being portrayed by the media, why do RFC still want him enough to offer him a $1mill two year deal? All this talk of evening out their player payments and they still offer a mill, which puts him in the top bracket of players there. Doesn't sound like they want to cut him loose. Smoke and mirrors.

He's actually setup a situation where its easier for the incoming Coach to change the culture & Instill a New one. Neeld truly cracked open the old Soft, Lazy, Selfish ways that have haunted us.

..... This we will be eternally thankful for, once we are down the road a ways. it cost him any popularity amongst most at Melbourne... he has spine.

I'd go so far a s to say that without Neelds list cleanup, Roos would not have decided to come & help us.

Why not a 3 or 4 year deal if he's supposedly that good?

Tigers want him gone but are willing to persist if that's what it takes.

Id say most Richmond supporters would be pretty shattered if Martin left....

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
