Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

Featured Replies

I still find it hard to believe that no one is starting to question his playing career.

He had links with charter who sourced the drugs from china for dank

he clearly has experience with "the good stuff", otherwise why would he be recommending it for his entire list?

I don't think anyone wants to go there. If he did do the good stuff he would be one of quite a few. Best stick to the club orchestrated systematic abuse rather than go for wildcat individuals.

Age reporting he has lodged the appeal, before or during the Bombers board meeting. .. staggering.

Hird was one of the finest players I've ever seen. In a period when Voss and Buckley were at their peak, I thought he was a standout. I won't let his despicable behaviour blot out that memory.

He is saying that HIRD thinks the best thing for the players is to appeal

Ah, thank you.

You've got to love Robbo's complete objectivity.

The energy polariser was a plastic crystal intended to channel negative energy of the cabin into the engine for improved performance. More Brett Kirk than Steven Dank, but was enough of a problem for Holden to see the Ea Falcon Brock released

As I said it was a placebo, it had no scientific support of its efficacy.

Yes it damaged Brock's reputation but nothing like what Hird is doing to his through cheating, lying and totally disregarding the well being of players and his club.

It was all new age kookiness that did no harm.

Even the Hird haters would admit he has mettle.

If by mettle he means narcasistic sociopath that will destroy everything he professes to love rather than admit (to even himself) that he stuffed up bigtime.

Then yeah, he's got mettle like no other.

memory is long gone for me and millions of others

Time for some objectivity, he was using Charter to improve his performance when he won the Brownlow. He was using unapproved drugs while coaching. I think his state of mind and actions since seriously put in doubt his playing performances. He has probably been a cheat for a long time.

Here is a quote from Robbo's latest piece of puke on Hird. Have a bucket ready before you read. Certainly studied at the Goebbel's school of propaganda he did.

"is charging on for himself, his family, the players and the club, knowing that hes probably sacrificing his career.

Certainly, he is defiant.

Clearly, be believes that principle is more important than coaching.

Even the Hird haters would admit he has mettle.

And what happens if he wins the appeal, and the show cause notices disappear?

The Bombers would be slapping themselves on the back, and the bloke who didnt blink would have lost his job for saving the club."

Yes and so did Lance Armstrong.

The Golden Boy speaks.. aka Seppuku

The train wreck continues

"I am requesting expedition of this appeal and will not ask for a stay of the notices. The players and ASADA will be able to continue with the show cause process whilst a full court deals with the legality of the investigation.

So what's the point?

Ah well, itll provide entertainment

I would expect ASADA to wait until all avenues of appeal have passed as they previously stated.

yep... i dont think ASADA should proceed either. Be interesting to see the next development :)

probably trying to set a trap or 'catch-22' for ASADA!

if ASADA can't/don't procede with SCN's well the delay isn't his fault is it...

So, he can continue to believe his own BS

Thus wasting more and more time thus providing Essendon with what they hope is a unhindered start to season 2015.

Arrogant toss pot of the highest order!

More and more damage will come as a result of this stalling tactic . Will this club survive another direct hit on its integrity??

A likely scenario but that won't stop ASADA dealing with the individual players who wish to co-operate.

Memo from our president Glen.

To all dee supporters.

Sit back, enjoy the rabble and think about them being under us for the next 10 years.

Does anyone honestly now believe that he never took PED's during his career?

Like Armstrong, this bloke is a fraud.

Remembering that during his career the testing for PED's was at the lower end of the scale - it would have been possible for any footballer to take whatever they liked (within reason)

Many of the PED's that were available back then could only be tested for with blood tests and even then they had to know what they were looking for.

There's also a very good chance that he wasn't tested for drugs very often ... the following article is from 2007 ...

Athletics runs rings around AFL

"Lip service, nothing but lip service," Bideau said. "Do they actually want to catch anyone?

"The testing we undergo (in athletics) is an invasion of your life, and if that's what it takes, then that's what it takes."

Hird GORRRRRRNNNNNNNN! ha ha ha ha Get outta here! Suffer all those Bomber supporters who were so sure their club was rock solid. This is such good news!

Hird Gone: No surprise: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/james-hird-removed-as-essendon-coach-20141002-10p3bn.html#ixzz3EwsvdNtu

The club has loaded its shotgun: '...Should a legal battle go ahead with Hird, the club has engaged its queens' counsel Neil Young to represent it. The Bombers remain determined to avoid a wrongful dismissal action from the Hirds...'
Interesting to note Hirds - plural!!
Footnote: another scoop missed by Hird's bestie; Robbo

Will Hird become a sad alcoholic like the Bombers 1948 Grand Final Full Forward??

I think he kicked 1.12 in the draw :)

Gone - resign or be sacked.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
