Now that is the definition of wishful thinking

Look at the hype going over Tom Boyd who's played no AFL games. Michie at least has played 1! But they hype is over the WAFL form and under 18 form and the three years is misleading as he didn't get on the park for the entire first two years.

I can't see your logic in comparing Michie with Boyd. Boyd is 18, has not already been recruited to AFL ranks, has been a standout TAC player, has been nominated by all and sundry as the 'top pick' in this year's draft.

Michie has been on Freo's list for 3 years, has managed 1 game and has sustained injuries.

I know which one I'd be drafting, given the chance, and his initials are not VM.

We would all do well to remember that anyone who claims to have a source is wrong 90% of the time. Especially if they cannot/will not name them. FWIW I think we may have Michie my old boss actually works at Freo as a trainer and he seems to think that Michie is coming to us. However I wouldn't get my hopes up as nothing has been confirmed and there is still a lot of work to be done on this particular deal and others that the MFC are currently working on.

But you have to also remember that 90% of discussions and proposals etc between the actual clubs don't come to fruition.

For example any poster who came here and said Rockliff for pick 2 is in the works is technically right - as it has been confirmed we were chasing him. Just because we won't land him doesn't mean the discussions never took place.

Well your question is why does everyone rate Michie considering he's only played 1 AFL game. My argument is why does everyone rate Boyd. Boyd's had injuries as well.

Michie was a quality TAC and under 18 champ performer, not to the level of Boyd of course. And his WAFL form was sensation. And he's played under Ross Lyon who doesn't give chances to kids easily.

We (Demonland) are talking about potentially trading pick 40 or so for this guy and think he can contribute. If GWS will accept a trade of pick 40 for pick 1 to allow us to get Boyd then that's fine by me.

Rockliff would be our best result possible... Possibility even better than Shiel.

Rocky is an impressive leader, he is EXACTLY what the MFC needs right now.

I don't believe no-one wants to come here, I just think it's early.

Players would know that Paul Roos isn't in the business of failing.

Get over it mate, its not rocket science, young players like this are valued because of their potential. It may not be realised yet but the potential is there based on the fact he has had a good junior career and in the 1 season he has been healthy showed dominant form in WAFL. Now I am not saying that means he is going to be a gun by any means, but you dont have to be Einstein to figure out why people are excited.

Its the nature of Sport, the power of potential always excites.

I'd rather us invest time into Michie than throw away picks on Vince.

So you would rather give away a pick for a bloke who is unproven at AFL level and ignore a bloke who has shown that he CAN get it done at AFL level? Smart thinking...

I'm certainly not Einstein, but I'm not totally stupid, either. Having said that I can't for the life of me see why people are getting excited about young Michie. Shuey, Rockliff, Shiel, on the other hand, would generate real excitement.

Our list is clogged with young players with 'potential' who, for one reason or another, have not gone anywhere near realising that potential.

If we can get Michie without paying 'overs', then go for it. He might be worth the risk - bad history of injuries plus only 1 previous AFL game. Dominant form in the WAFL is good, but it is not AFL by a long stretch.

I would imagine that players of the Michie ilk could not be expected to lift us dramatically from near the bottom of the ladder into a consistently competitive side.

In the meantime I'll wait until we land a 'bigger fish before I get too excited.

No single player of any ilk is going to lift us dramatically from near the bottom of the ladder.

Do people see michie, Vince and Lyon, cross and Dylan shiel as a successful trade period?

Shiel alone would make it a successful trade period

Bang! There it is. That's a sensational trade period for a team that needs midfield grunt. With the bookends we have we don't need a superstar midfield, we just need to go close to breaking even. If that happens next year we'll win 8-10 games and then you'll see a fist full of midfielders wanting to jump onboard.

What I'd be doing right now though is taking names of those saying no, and take great pride in telling them in 12 months time that they can jam it where it counts.

Ask me in three years if this was a successful trade period.

Stop being so pragmatic. Where's the guy who was talking premierships earlier today?

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
