This ape business is a job for the phantom

Phantom_S025.jpg

Urgently summoned back to the jungle, the Phantom learns that the ancient ape idol statue worshipped by the Durugu tribe has come to life and that the Durugu are conquering the jungle, threatening the Phantom’s peace.

The Phantom makes his way to Durugu country, but is soon captured and brought face to face with the colossal ape idol. Here, a chance for the new Durugu chief to conquer the remainder of the jungle tribes in one stroke presents itself: publicly executing the Phantom in an uneven fight with the jungle's new ruler......

HAHAHAHAHAHA The Phantom will save us!

As long as it's not Billy Zane.

I feel we have digressed somewhat from the thread's subject. However it seems that our common fear of an impending ape uprising has unified our disparate political opinions.

Except D-L. I struggle to read his posts even when he ISN'T talking about a divine force. No telling how he'll react to our new Ape Overlords. I'm going to say he'll advocate rebellion with multiple fonts and styles.

(Sorry D-L, opportunity was too good to pass up mate, much <3 )

i think it is another chicken and egg situation hardtack, probably very dependent on one's definition of the two terms

but then we get into semantics

i would expect the instinct for power and control came first as a more base attribute and religion was a refinement dependent on the higher development of imagination and curiosity

look at apes. they have power and control structures but no religion

on this basis portraying abbot as an ape would be incorrect - LOL

no daisy they have a team

there is power & weakness everywhere & one of the weakest powers is gravity. but its relentless. & prevails in the long haul

power for exploitation isn't team, or in harmony... see the mfc over the last 50 years.

abbotts not an ape, anymore than gillard was a witch. he's just on the wrong bus.

the ape business is just the disrespect felt for him for following his hero's, & thinking he can take us all on his magical mystery tour.

i'm more concerned about the rumoured reptile uprising

p.s. didn't the apes go to another planet

I don't know about the Apes going on space travel daisy, or even the movies you watch:

but it is prophesied that we move on from this place

LOL - then d-l was right.....we are all doomed (or was it 30%?)

wrong again daisy

we are not doomed you just can't read or comprehend my friend we go on for much much longer mate, a few thousand years on here: but by the time she blows, we have left the Building.

gone on to blue'r pastures.

1/3rd of the world' populous daisy, its said will die. with the coming times of trouble weather storms pestilence & disease. the earth will re-balance its-self, starting with the cause of its ill.

I'd imagine the worst in the most heavily populated areas like over populated nations & the metropolises.

A right-wing dryalogue arguing with a loony left-wing protectionist shows how ridiculous the concept of trying for 'balance' really is.

no monoculture thinking, is the one dimension that's causing the problems facing the world today. & the biggest problem will be our weather.

I'm going to put forward a very straight question which neither political party can answer properly(for 150 years).

What would you do with the Asian people that attempt to enter this country without the correct paperwork?

Tony's latest effort reeks of politics:

I think even the staunchest of liberals must see that this latest effort is little more than a play for votes...and to attempt to have this forest taken off the world heritage listing, really does fit the "international embarrassment" bill perfectly...

"Tasmanians go to the polls on March 15 with jobs and the forestry industry big issues as Labor struggles to hold on to government."

Its interesting that one of the biggest potential beneficiaries of the delisting wants nothing to do with the forests

"One of the state's biggest native forest producers Ta Ann has made it clear that it does not want wood from the contentious forests.

Executive director Evan Rolley says the company's customers only want wood from areas endorsed by the peace deal."

How can you be so cruel DC?

No one should be sent to Romsey as the place is unsafe and dangerous.

they shouldn't be wood-chipping ANY Old growth forest At All.

'selective harvesting' in Old Growth, only for timber, & certainly NO ClearFelling,,, or any undergrowth clearing at all.

Clearing lets in the sunlight & before you know it, Blackberry, & other introduced weeds are growing in there & eventually take over & smother the natives out in the areas opened up.

I liked Tony's speech to the Forestry Industry forum yesterday. Basically he nailed it with his claim that there are too many national parks, too many bloody trees, let's be honest! I mean what have forests ever done for us? I think this line captures the sentiment of his speech:

And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Hard to argue with this I reckon!

I believe that in response to his application to join the ministry god spake unto Tony suggesting he go forth and multiply... and so he took up a ministry of another kind and has since been applying his lord's suggestion to just about anything he can think of (well, anything instigated by the opposition).

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los
