The coaching selection panel

Josh Mahoney?? How is this guy still at our club let alone picking the next coach?

He is highly intelligent, highly educated and i would not be at all surprised if he is kept on next year.

How many people have ever interviewed their potential new boss for his job ????????????????

Some people need to get a grip on reality.......................only a moron would think that is normal.

Who is he ; and what has; Josh Mahoney ever done? Might be clever but is a non entity- result wise, in the AFL industry.

Even PJ said he must apply for his position again, so he must be held in ????????? esteem............not!

At least Todd Viney was a great & respected player/leader onfield. JM was how good?? For who??? How many best and fairests. Captain of a club?

So now high intelligence & education justify a senior AFL coaching interviewers position? At least PJ has run a club and done most of this before, so has Parkin in an on field and off field manner.

Is this really all you can base your opinion on? Ya gotta stop settling for 2nd best and get on with being a winner son.

Yes I was listening to SEN. I phoned thru that enquiry! Think others beat me to the same theme though. Healey would easily have Mahoney covered for justification on this panel, too. Let JM with all his intelligence go to another "nice" club.

We only want people with fire in the belly now, no more nice, intelligent, educated, unproven, losers, from hereon in!

You have it backwards and so does Mooney. The head of the FD under Jacksons structure is the boss, he and he alone reports to the CEO. Last time I looked the coach was a part of that department so Mahoney should be on the committee as interim head the same as Craig is on the selection committee for the team as interim coach. He is not appointing his boss, he is the boss.

Jackson has put structures in place and trust in the people in the interim jobs to do the role they are in place to do. Until anyone else steps up then these are the people that should be involved.

Todd's role is an interesting one in representing the players and I think it shows good faith on the clubs behalf where there hasn't been a lot for a fair time now.

U are going off like a pork chop, u are talking about someone u don't know, just because the teams not winning means that everyone at the club are losers, you don't throw the baby with the bathwater, he is a permeriship player, u don't know if he has fire in the belly.

What the hell is your problem, Still Waiting?

He is the Interim Head of the FD. To not include him would be aslap in the face of the original decision by JACKSON HIMSELF to put Mahoney in that position.

I doubt he will stay in his current position in 2014 but don't diminish the guy for doing what he is asked to do.

Same with Garry Lyon. He told the club he didn't want to be involved. Harbour ill-feeling if you wish but he was asked by those at the club to help, those at the club ratified the decisions that were made, and those at the club are now gone. Get over it.

what a load of crap.....If PAUL ROOS WANT THE JOB he will get it ......no need for a panel,it will be an insult to his intelligence.

IF ROOS DOES DECLINE then it will WILLIAMS,CRAIG or EADE ( hopefully not... being a victorian the MCC member will try to control him)

WHO KNOWS ROOS MAY ALREADY HAVE THE JOB................all this speculation could be a front.

AS I SAID BEFORE no ex-Demon/Victorian should have anything to do with the club............... good rid dens to HEALY.............. wasn't that good of a player anyway.

People at the club have to ratify the decision to hire Roos - this is what this committee will do if Roos decides he can slum it for a few years in such an awful city...

And what crazy ramblings are the bolded?

The MCC will control people and no Demons should be involved in hiring the Coach of the Demons?

No Victorian should get the job. Eade is Tasmanian and Roos is Victorian by birth does that change his mind?

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
