Brain Fades - Do we get the gold medal?

One observation I note in most of our matches is we always do really well with brain fades, indecision, and lack of skills in the thinking department during a game.

Our back line and D grade midfield continually turn over the pill, overuse the ball and cough it up in the most weird ways. During yesterday's game it reached new heights with Clisby resulting in a Swans goal.

I guess it gets down to leadership and maturity but it is often hilarious and cringeworthy.

Or was it because the rules say the player returning the ball to play after a behind must kick it in? He hand balled it instead. Which makes me wonder what would have happened if he'd just stepped back over the line without hand passing or kicking.

I can recall another game this year where a player who I vaguely recall might have been Jason Blake at St Kilda forgot to kick the ball and handpassed it to a player instead. If I recall correctly, that resulted in a free kick to whoever the opponent was that day.

You can't be too hard on Clisby. It was his 3 rd game and against the best football team in the land. The best defensive team In the land too. Overall his 3 games has been impressive.

Actually, I think the gold medal this week should go to that Schmitt decision in the Geelong v Hawthorn game when Kelly's kick was adjudged to have been deliberately kicked out. Truly a Schmitt decision.

That was the umpires brain fade, he can take the gold for that one.

Clisby I'm not worried about. A bit of confidence and training and he'll be a good kick in.

But Dunn is a brain fade king. Nicholson as well. Rodan gets a medal. Howe not going off the mark gets a gold.

On that note Sydney creeping the man on the mark gets a Gold as well.

Luckily we've got rid of a few who played earlier this year and now we are looking a bit better. If we continue to play with passion and intensity a few brain fades won't bother me.

I'm pretty confident that every kid in the TAC Cup can kick and handball. Think of your own playing days in local footy when it was stunningly apparent a future VFL/AFL footballer played in your league; they were that much beter than the rest of the hacks. To play AFL you CAN play. And yet somehow when these future league footballers end up Melbourne they kick over teammates' heads or at the ground in front of them, and handball at teammates' feet. HOW?!?
