WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - PAUL ROOS

Featured Replies

Sociopaths are significantly more charismatic than Neeld. They think long and hard about how others will see what they're doing, and modify their behaviour so as to go unnoticed / get what they want. In this respect, they're a lot like the rest of us.

It might surprise you to know that 90% of the sociopaths you've ever met, you didn't know were sociopaths.

I think it fits the nutjob perfectly - except on a few minor points.

BH... Reading WJ's list, there seem to be some points that almost match your online persona.

It still hasnt sunk in for me that we landed Roos as our coach

Other than 4 and 10 you're probably right.

So, you're Mark Neeld?

Aww, come on BH, we know you are capable of love (beyond yourself, that is), point no 7. You just got to open up a little and let the love flow.....

We may all look back at what a awful coach Neeld was, who looked completely out of his depth. But his appointment was a just reflection of our poor governance at the time.

The appointment of Roos, fortunately, seems to indicate the complete opposite.

It's easy to be critical of players and personnel, but they don't give themselves contracts. The rot starts at the top, and It's looking extremely hopeful that we've got it right this time.

I remember during Neeld's first (or one of the earliest) media interviews done by Neeld. One of the journo's asked him what his strongest quality was as a coach - Neeld said "building relationships"

LOL

MN was appointed to stop soft players getting away with bludging at training and other areas of club life

he was appointed by a board that had no idea how to change the culture of this group

he was given a mandate by that board

and lastly ,he was not up to it.probably not his fault, probably a top flight 2ic,but unfortunately just not up to it

to be quite honest he did remind me of the classical mass murderer in most Hollywood flicks

especially his poker face look.with I gonna kill you forehead lines

Pretty sure Malthouse suggested to Neeld that he needed to be a complete control freak which I think explains everything.

Strangely enough, whilst I think that description might match many people in the world of football and even posters on this site, I'm not sure that it does match Mark Neeld. I think he was more a case of someone who was promoted as being a potential AFL coach but when the crunch came, he was simply out of his depth. Likewise Bailey. Neale Daniher could definitely coach in his day but stayed on for too long.

In truth, apart from the early days of Daniher and the Northey era, we haven't had more than a half decent coach for close to 50 years.

that is exactly my ex , to a tee

Collingwood players would disagree with you. They loved his honesty. The difference at the MFC is ppl like Jackie boy gets his feelings hurt and announces to the football world he wants to leave the club

Hardly his strongest quality - or anywhere near it.

I agree with you Rog. I get the feeling Neeld took his honesty levels up100 notches and took his brief too far at the MFC. He was given advise and went too far with it.

But the Pie players loved him. Which says a bit about the MFC

You can be a really good assistant who the players respect and a horrendous senior coach who the players loathe.

Not naming names though. : )

I've read that description before but it wasn't in relation to or ex coach.

Mine too (although she was a bit plain and lacked charm and charisma).

Did Ben just use a smiley face?

Sociopaths don't use smiley faces.

: )

That list is kind of of alarming. One of my mates hits every single one of those on the head.

We should do everything we can to get Sean Wellman back. Our defence was absolutely unbelievable when he was here.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.
