WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - PAUL ROOS

Featured Replies

I wonder if I am the only person on this planet that thinks Matty Knights would be a good coach. He got shafted at Essendon by Thompson and Tird but employs a good offensive style of play which I happen to think would be good at Melbourne. For the life of me I can't understand the infatuation with Roos. The Swans played some of the most boring football under the sun when Roos was coach and Longmire has improved it a little bit. Anyway thats just my take on it.

what Roos offers would be an Ideal antidote to the longterm undisciplined culture of the Mfc... he could get the players to change & be responsible for the game & one another..

this would then be a great foundation for others following Roos to build from, in other styles. but we need someone strong enough & smart enough to be able to winover the players & get Them to change themselves.

Once the culture is right, any good strong coach can work it.

The story I heard on the radio at 2.00pm said he was not able for family reason to move from Sydney.

That is all I know.

However if we think he is coming to coach the Dees we are kidding ourselves.

It is someone else IMO

I imagine the radio story paraphrased the bit about not going to Brissy and read it as not leaving sydney. 10-1 a sydney based news desk too..lol

I dont disagree that its unlikely hes coming our way , but its a bit like Chinese whispers how things are reported :)

In amajor technological advancement, next year Roos will coache Melbourne via Skype from Sydney and Hird will coach Essendon via text message from the pub.

I am certain it will be Roos, or someone else.

actually Roos is looking into mental telepathy & holistic speaking... there maybe hope for Dunn yet. controlled by remote thinking, & consoling words of wisdom. getting stronger efforts of resistance...

tell me grasshopper, what did the bird say to the frog?

would you be my date for dinner? Nay say the frog!

I just wish they would get on with it to be honest.

I dont mind Craig , but i really believe they need a new voice.

I really rate Gary Ayres. I can't stand now days how reasonably successful coaches who take a risk and bomb or who make a few mistakes just become tainted when sone of the often touted options are sometimes lesser skilled in my opinion.

Conan is a premiership player.

there was a time when Terry Wallace was seen as THE coaching messiah; when Pagan was considered a gun - these two at least took a risk on basket cases and in ways ruined their careers.

many coaches now days are too scared to take on a real challenge and jeopardize their reputations/legacy. Like malthouse will at Carlton..

Beggers cant be choosers. If his style gets us 8 plus wins im all for it.

I was told today that Brisbane consider Eade, Simpson and Worsfold the three front runners now, interesting they included Worsfold but they're very confident he won't be coach of WCE next year, make of that whatever you like.

2014 my random guess

MFC Coach: Rodney Eade

Lions Coach: Adam Simpson

WCE Coach: Scott Burns

Ess Coach: Simon Goodwin

gotta love the silly season.....bit earlier this year

I am certain it will be Roos, or someone else.

Yeah, I know ......... you heard that from an impeccable source close to the Club.

Yeah but Brisbane also sacked their coach cause they thought they had Roos, I am sure they were confident then too.

Tbh no one knows who is going to coach us or the lions or the weagles until the contract is signed and a presser is called.

Bring on the end of the season.

Amazing to think we're better situated than another team isn't it ?

Are we?

Are we?

I think we are.......just

only by a matter of timing though

Are we?

We should be. A three month head-start should amount to something.

I just can't help but feel Roos is ours. No source or whispers have come my way but the silence from the rumour mills is golden. The best Barret could come up with is Leigh Tudor from the swans. That's not gonna happen. Adam Simpson? No. Roos has ruled out Brisbane and Rocket and the rest will interview for that job soon.

Hope it's not Neeld decision all over again where we rush it cause others are now in the race.

In saying that we are under new management so hopefully we are smarter about it THIRD time round.

Just reported on The Footy Show that two smokies have emerged.

Eade was interviewed by the club last week and next week, he'll be interviewed by the Lions.

Further, the names that have emerged are Leigh Tudor and Adam Simpson.

I think that Tudor is at the Swans?

Anyway, make of it what you will.

I felt we would smash Port in Round 1. Read my "Relax we've got this" thread. My feelings have failed me plenty of times. I'm just connecting some dots. But I could be a bit delusional because I want Roos.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
