DeeSpencer 26,691 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 I think this is a good thing. Neeld still needs a miracle but at least now we say to the media we will make our decisions when we make them and it also says to our players that we won't blindly toss a coach away. Dawes, Clark, Grimes, Howe, Frawley, Garland, Terlich, Jones x2, Evans even Davey and Rodan are a core that seems to be playing for Neeld or are playing for their own pride. And most of the rest of our guys couldn't impact a match anyway.
deanox 10,070 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Another sign of weak leadership at the MFC. Oh well I know what I will be doing with my vote later on this year. So a decision not to sack Neeld is poor leadership?
Young Dee 1,303 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Confirmed that Neeld is still the coach - for atleast this week: channel 10 Even on ABC: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-06-03/neeld-keeps-coaching-job-for-now/4730194
sue 9,277 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Fark !! We will have no personnel left ... Who else do we want removed ?? ..As usual all MFC Members kept well and truly in the dark... We will be told soon.... VIA the media !!! How do you expect to be told? By personal carrier pigeon? Would you feel so much better if they sent you an email - which of course would appear in the press within 10 seconds. Please name any other club which regularly tells its members exactly what is going on, especially when they are in the middle of making important decisions? As many of us hoped, the club is not making rushed decisions just because the media is in 'camping out' mode and disappointed members are (quite reasonably) getting emotional.
Barney Rubble 1,576 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 He also refused to make comments on Neelds future That's right Young Dee. The last time I read the structure, the coach is part of the FD
Redleg 42,180 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 I'd hazard to say that is our reward from the AFL. It's just the start Adam. Money, Picks, Fixture, love.
Grand New Flag 3,227 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 We will not move forward while Neeld is coach. We will not start healing until Neeld is gone. It sounds like they have decided Neeld is going but have not put a transition plan in place and only now are they working on this plan. This is not good enough, a transition plan should have been worked on since round 2.
Redleg 42,180 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 ABC Radio Hobart just announced that the Beatles are reforming.

RalphiusMaximus 6,112 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 This is absolutely disgusting from the board. They have truly shown themselves to be spineless and indecisive. The club needed a statement today, and instead we get indecision. We needed them to come right out and say that Neeld was safe in his job and they have faith in the process. Instead they continue to sit on the fence and fuel the media parasites swarming the club. They could not have chosen a worse path to take out of this meeting. Bring on the AGM and let's get a board who are willing to stand up and speak for th eclub.
Nasher 33,686 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 ABC Radio Hobart just announced that the Beatles are reforming. Jade Rawlings to be caretaker John Lennon until end of year.
TonyMelb 7 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 So a decision not to sack Neeld is poor leadership? Where was it stated the Board had made any decision? Have not decided not to sack Neeld (i.e. to keep him as coach) merely put off any decision. Would be different if the Board had announce they gave him a period or number of games to save his job. As it is look like they are passing all decisions regarding FD to PJ. Not saying that is not in best interests of us all but it is not leadership by the Board members so in that sense Deanox's view is valid.

TonyMelb 7 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 ABC radio Hobart have announced that Elvise Pressley might be dead. Careful. Next they may announce MFC is close to death .... but that may not be so far off
CHAMP 347 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 I'd imagine that it was debated that any immediate sacking might well result in an even bigger embarassment for the Club on next Monday's National Stage than otherwise might be expected. Only time will tell. Maybe next week we could include aspects of the scoreboard in our KPIs.
mauriesy 7,444 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 To paraphrase a famous Prime Minister ... "we will decide who coaches the Melbourne Football Club and the conditions under which they are sacked". I'm glad the club has determined the way forward under the guidance of Peter Jackson with a holistic approach to the whole FD, and not given in to the carking of media vultures gathering over a carcase. There are two issues here, one being whether Neeld ought to be sacked, the other 'how we do it if the answer is "yes"'. We should have learnt from Dean Bailey how not to sack a coach. Hopefully we have.
Strafford 182 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 A limbo decision, but probably understandable, even though the uncertainty is unlikely to be helpful.

Not saying that is not in best interests of us all but it is not leadership by the Board members so in that sense Deanox's view is valid. I'm not quite following your post, sorry. However regarding your comment that the board should have given him a set period or set games, all that would give us it's another scenario Luke today, vultures circling, looking for a sacking. I interpret the comment to mean, "no further comment still be made". I.e. football department will be restructured, Neeld is the coach, nothing has changed. If it changes, we'll let you know. RE Neeld being in their so long, it may have been a grilling or extra review etc, and that is most likely. But it could be that the board, the FD (including Neeld) and PJ had a longer discussion about the structure of the footy department and other issues. Also, given this is PJs first board meeting, it may be that there was a pile of background discussions that Neeld to be had regarding the FD presentation.
Mr Steve 3,820 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Our weak little board would have sacked Neeld to save their own skin, so i'm guessing Jackson said no.
Straight Sets Simon 23,113 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 in Peter Jackson we trust People said the same thing about Bailey, Schwab, Connolly and Neeld.
Jonesbag 487 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Ive been at work all day, can someone please tell me in a nutshell what has happened?
