This thread is a great indication of just how bad we've been for so long and that some are so conditioned to getting absolutely thumped that even the slightest hints and glimpses of competitive football are discussed glowingly.

Let me put these facts out there:

- At half time, the score was 12 goals to 1. Last week it was 13 goals to 2.

- In three quarters of footy in perfect conditions we kicked 2 goals. The opposition kicked 19.

- In the two first halves the last two weeks, when the heat is on, we've kicked 3 goals to the opposition's 25.

- If we take out the third quarters of the last two games, when Freo and Hawthorn switched off, we've been outscored 36 goals to 5.

That's right...36 goals to 5.

This says it all really.

I know we've played two top sides but that is downright shameful and embarrassing at the highest level.

Yes, I saw some positives yesterday, but they were purely from an individual perspective. Frawley, Jones and Dawes were great, Garland kept us his solid form, Kent showed some good signs, etc.

But from a team perspective it was just another woeful performance, one we now expect week in week out.

To come away even remotely pleased with what we dished up yesterday is just a sad, sad tale of how far we've regressed since the end of 2011.

Don't disagree with you, but what would you rather do?

Would you rather every week we say the same thing?

Our ineptitude has been discussed to death, and I don't think anyone on here uses small victories like winning a quarter as changing that. We all know we suck. I'd rather look to whatever positives we have and hold onto those as signs that there is a future than to continually talk about how we're the worst AFL side in living memory.

Fair call. I agree with that. Trust me, I also try to walk away from games with some positives as it's so depressing of late.

But my comments were more directed at those who believe we are showing progress and were quite happy with aspects of the team performance. I don't think we are progressing at all, rather we are plunging further into the mire.

You are right, they should have known he would get a freak foot injury after starring early in the season.

What season , this one or 2012, what ever way you want to put it the decision has been a failure, I know that's not the MFC fault or his, when you pay a guy 3 million over 4seasons you want bang for your buck, where not getting it, the guy never plays simple as that.

If I hear one more comment about 'effort' I'll vomit.

They are paid professionals. League footballers.

Effort is a non negotiable. Skills and smarts are a second non negotiable but the MFC have managed to pick a bunch of blokes who struggle to tick one let alone two of those boxes.

We have been this rubbish for so long that the poor MFC sads on demonland continue to to say, 'can't question the effort'.

Give me a [censored] break.

We are absolutely woeful and will be as long as half the names on the list continue to get games at this level.

Dean Kent and Dean Terlich have shown more ability as players in their short number of games than about 15 to 20 players who continually get games.

It's no [censored] wonder we are getting smashed every week. Neeld or no Neeld. The list is the number one issue.

I think there are individual aspects in which we are progressing. That's not good enough, I'm not at all trying to say it is. The club is not progressing, as there are some fundamentals which are anchoring us.

However, I've seen improvement in clearance work. I see our players positioning better, better balancing between stopping opponents from dominating stoppages as well as trying to command themselves. I've also seen improvements in tackle technique.

What's not improving is decision-making, team selection, game-day tactics, gut-runing and fitness. These things will drag us down no matter how much we try to beef up statistics.

Good god, Fitzy couldnt take a mark last year, and he cant take a mark this year. He is never going to make the grade, give him all the games you like. Better to bring Maxy back

Really? Wow Over his short career Jack hasnt had the chance to string together 2 games in a row yet.

In his debut in 2011, albeit probably a 'gimme' game in the last game of the year he had 11 posessions and a goal.

Last year, both of his games were as a part of a side that got demolished by 10 goals.

Rnd 7 also against the Hawks he struggled and barely touched it.

Rnd 23 last year, travelling to Freo he kicked 2 out of our paltry 5 goals, also in likely a 'taster' game.

Why is it that we should give Max Gawn '4 or 5 games in a row' to get comfortable at the level, yet we should drop Fitz as he's a

'spud'?

If you've seen any Casey games over the last 18 months other than those televised on the ABC, you would've seen a player who I consider

has developed/improved his game the most over that period.

He looked nervous and tentative when attempting to mark the ball at times, but with a run of games this will be rectified, he could easily have

had a dozen marks last night as he was constantly running to the right spots and creating an option for his teammates, that was quite often ignored.

If he gets 4 games in a row and still hasnt improved I'm happy to eat my words but from what I've seen I think he can cement a spot.
