GAME DAY - Round 9

Featured Replies

I just don't get it, why don't Melbourne players run?

Lazy and stupid footballers, I'm sick of the bloody lot of them.

........................... and there are still people who think Mark Neeld should be allowed to coach out the season!!

I dont get it!

North Melbourne Adelaide is a cracking game. I'm going to watch that

I've already broken the remote - again, and the dog won't come anywhere near me.

haha that certainly lightened my mood

Lazy and stupid footballers, I'm sick of the bloody lot fo them.

But they would be superstars in other sides!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no idea how Neeld continues to survive this sort of display.

If he isn't sacked now, he won't survive beyond the Bye. Three absolute thrashings coming up.

And FFS get on Mundy. Sick of hearing his name.

I dont get it!

It would be inhumane to bring in another coach now

What the [censored] is going on? Why so many uncontested marks inside our defensive 50?

MARK NEELD FOR THE LOVE GOD, WORK OUT HOW TO CLEAR OUR BACKLINE!!!!

Jaded....this effectively cost us any chance of winning the match last week. Neeld allows players with poor disposal by foot to kick in. In addition we are too stationary once the first outlet kick is found on the rare occasions we happen to find someone in a short outlet pass from the kick in. We don't run in waves past the recipient (or block etc) and try to create handball/overlap options (ie., create play and run it out of the backline) Way too stationary and stop/start, 1970's style!!

  • Dunn is a terrible kick in and should never be given the kick in duties. If he is given them he should be told ony to ever kick long to a contest wide. Garland is a tad better but not much better from kick ins.
  • Watts and Terlich are probably the only 2 players i would have some faith in with the kick ins when attempting to hit up the first outlet pass (short).
  • Frawley is no better than Dunn with short outlet pass kick ins.
  • Garland is marginally better than Frawley and Dunn but his decision making/option selections when doing so are generally poor which tends to offset any positive with his short passing ability (again only marginally better from the kick ins with short passes than Chip & Dunn).

In addition, if Dunn is given the ball short he will often tend to just play on straight away, deep in our back pocket, without even looking at options up the field, often placing pressure on himself and fellow players around him or those up the ground he is bombing it to. Or alternatively he just coughs it up when under this pressure (from him playing on without thinking/looking) straight to the opposition.

Basically the entire backline, Terclich/Watts excluded to some degree, is very disorganised, poorly skilled by foot (from the kick in) and generally either play on when they shouldn't (from a short outlet kick) or fail to run for each other after that first outlet kick in to provide the 1st recipient with quick options and create time, space and overlap run out of the backline.

There's probably been worse backlines but this bunch would go a long way to matching the worst backline i've seen (collectively) at the MFC since i started following anyway.

Listening on the radio is worse cause they not mentioning

Any Melbourne players are we actually there?

Dunn is done. Throw him back to Casey.

And keep nicho, sellar and bail?

8min mark of second term 54 point lead to Freo

And this is without....

Pavlich

Hill

Sandilands

Griffin

Bradley

Walters

Morabito

If the club doesn't do something this week about the coaching situation we run the risk of losing every out of contract player, every supporter under 12 years of age and completely stuffing the future of this club.

I'm outta here. Think I'd rather go and pull my fingernails out .

Oh god Matt Jones kicks into the back of Frawley's head - if Geelong are the Globetrotters we are the Generals. Pathetic excuse for a professional sports team.

Jamar is leading our team for Dreamteam points.... he is yet to have a disposal. Hilarious!

A lucky first goal from a turnover, then TEN UNANSWERED goals.

"The hardest team to play against" sounds about as sincere as "There will be no carbon tax under a government I lead"

Both need to go

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
