Hugging Setanta? Did Jordan give him that first free kick? I kid, I kid. But did he?I'm in a wheelchair myself, have been since I was 18 (34 now), I got pretty sick last year, actually I went straight to hospital from the Richmond game in April, I had pneumonia, couldn't breathe on the way home. Ended up code blue, pretty much died, before being saved, had another code blue a couple of days later, spent 2 weeks in ICU. Watching your friends and family go through that [censored] is worse than going through it. I would have given up but I didn't want them to go through all that for nothing. I still haven't fully recovered, been in and out of the Austin since, they are brilliant, apart from all this I've never spent time in hospital, but I assume there's not much better care you can get. So Rick is in good hands. I now live about 10 minutes from Kilmore too, so I guess I felt I relate to this story and had to spill my guts. I hate horses though.

I ride classic scooters, I came off one day a few years ago and broke my hip in 4 spots, luckily for me, I can walk and other than some discomfort I was very very luck as even with 4 breaks the bones did not move much so I did not need them re aligned. I agree watching my wife's stress over me was worse than the pain I went through.

I will require hip replacement when a little older and arthritis will set in due to the socket on my right leg now being 3-4mm larger.

Which is why I questioned him umpiring, the mind set of my wife and mum (who stayed with us for two weeks so my wife could still work) was not 100%

Stop bignoting yourself, we all nearly died after the Richmond game (i'm joking by the way). Thanks for sharing. But for anyone out there the Austin spinal unit is an amazing cause. Don't get me wrong I love the royal childrens hospital and most victorians have a friend of family member who has at one time needed the kids hospital, but when I see them get 15+ million a year for the good friday appeal I think about other services that need it to. The Austin spinal unit deal with these horrific injuries and there reputation for care is first class. Usually people go to hospital to get better and are thankful for it. At the Austin spinal unit a lot of the people in their won't ever be the same but I'm sure as you can attest DA they can come out alive and with a life to live.

The people at Epworth rehab in Richmond also deserve so much respect.

In general all those in service areas, ambulance, ICU, firefighters etc are amazing.

Feel for you...I experienced the same, but from the family perspective with my brother late last year. He spent several weeks in ICU at the Canberra Hospital in Woden with bi-lateral pneumonia. Came close to not making it for a while as he simply wasn't responding to any medication, but fortunately pulled through; and now the poor bugger has to have a hip replacement operation - cant take a trick. It was hell for two reasons...having to wonder every day whether he would recover and having to spend so much time in Canberra.

I've said all along losing to Richmond put me in there!

My problem isn't spinal, like Darren Bennett's kid, I have a form of muscular dystrophy.

But you are absolutely right, the spinal unit at the Austin do amazing work.

No excuse! It'll get done one day. My mate flies out of Vegas the day before UFC 160, why wouldn't you stay one more day for that card??

You going to Tool tonight? And tomorrow night? And Sabbath on Monday night?...

If the Dees win this'll be a perfect weekend.

To be honest Chael grew on me on TUF. So I put 20 on him and the Dees for a nice return. Long shot but there's hope!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
