Just when you thought we may have been implementing cultural change

yep it's a worry, appointing two young captains as well, I'd like to see Nathan Jones or Mitch Clark

I heard this as well mate, it confirms for me that is not all Neelds fault.... I don't buy just blaming the coach and the game plan.... I don't buy this club can/could be turned around in 18 months

I love a beer and drink when I watch the Dees so I am not knocking them for enjoying themselves...

What worries me is that it's not the first time outside sorces have commented at the lack of professionalism of MFC players. And that lack of professionalism reflects the on field performance of the club. It's not all players but you can thell there is a core group who don't give a stuff

I agree with that mate - the more I hear the more we need senior players to stand up

The only question is - do they have to be captian, why can't they do it if they're in the leadership gorup - or want success??

said some storm players saw half a dozen dees laughing and carrying on in the spa when they should have been having ice baths, dermie reckons they need a jolt to change their ways

At work, cant listen. Can anyone give a run down?

Some Storm players walked past a large group of MFC players in the spas, relaxing and laughing at AAMI park - instead of in the ice baths like the Storm players were

Dermie put it down to a lack of leadership caused by electing captains that are too young which caused a separation between them and players whom had played more games than them.

Melbourne FC culture = drinking culture = [censored] culture.

Listen to Dermie on SEN

I've linked the tweet,

@therunhome: Dermott Brereton shares an interesting insight into the Dees culture http://t.co/x3Rxn98NGj

Wow! Damning stuff indeed.

The bearded ones.....Watts, Frawley, Gillies, who else?

I noticed that Mitch Clark was clean shaven last Saturday.

also said west coast tagged jones in the third, which had an effect.

Would you want to be tarred with that group of beards??

Agreed Lordweaver. Trenners can barely run and get to the ball at the moment so what hope does he have to make people stand up.

Jones as the hardest working player at the club is exactly the reward we need to be giving.

Clark is the kind of player that can demand more.

I love Grimesy but he doesn't command respect yet.

Neeld made a horrible mistake but he can fix it.

Maybe I'm naive, but how would Storm players know when MFC players were due for ice baths rather than spas?

This is true and something that The Ox and Doctor Turf raised with him - his response was somewhat veiled.......

Not being naive - me mentioned that the Storm players were walking to the ice baths and they were in the spas. The MFC players could have already have hopped in them, who knows, but it was more that they were being unprofessional... by laughing and being in the baths... and that that wouldnt happen at Storm who are the best in the NRL

It sort of seems a little out of whack, in the fact that it's hearsay and not fact and they may have already done the ice baths etc,

but what's worrying is another club who is at the top of their competition and best in the world thinks our players don't take their recovery seriously enough, and if I remember right this is not the first time we have heard storm players thinking we didn't work hard enough.

Agree with Ox. Can't unscramble the egg. Maybe the remainder of the older players will need to be tipped out before the curve starts?

FFS mate, cant beleive people are still trying to make excuses or justify things by the players. Look at our records for the last 7 years.

Seriously!

IF it is all true, AND IF there is evidence that ice baths the day after are more beneficial than spas THEN it is not a good look.

Evidence any sports performance gurus (who don't prescribe peptides or useless vitamin injections)???

Seems like a good time to bring back..

Not making excuses. Ive said multiple times I think the players are lazy, over paid considering their performance, and only NJ would be in another team's 22.

BUT that does not excuse being narrow minded and belligerent.

Dermie's story leaves alot of holes: for all we know the players could have been in the baths.

Ps, 7 years ago we were in the top 8...

Hearsay rubbish.

This is what happens when you lose a lot. It's easy to take pot shots about players in a spa. Fair dinkum it's a bloody spa. Were they accompanied by hookers and cocaine? If the rabbitohs saw the swans playing rubber ducky in a spa who would give a toss?

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
