I am done with Chipper and Garland, no leadership in a crisis week after week.

I have watched enough of these 2 to form the opinion they are just bulls in a china shop that poo their pants when things get tough.

Tom Mcdonald just had 5 kicked on him by Darling. He is a horrendous kick and decision maker, however I can't help feel that there is some upside in his game as he does have a crack.

He had a crack, created some run out of the back half when no one else did and he is YOUNG!

Lots to like, but still has a lot of development left in him.

He's being asked a lot for a young player, because there's no-one else.

Will be better with more strength and experience.

The least of our concerns.

I thought he was passable. Just. I also thought Sellar instituted a handful of good spoils in the first half too. The goal he kicked in the final quarter was actually from a beautiful kick.

Tommy McD has genuine talent, and plays with a bit of dash at times. But he is beaten very easily in the air and when he makes an error it is usually an absolute howler. It is either a shocking decision making error, or he kicks poorly.

He will grow as he plays ever week with more experience. will be in the leadership group next year.

Tommy fumbles too much, but he fronts up for the next contest and doesn't drop his head or blame others. He is a keeper but not The General. The General is missing! We lack at least one big bodied gun in the backline NOTE: recruiters.

He has twice the heart of Jack Watts.

Frawley, McDonald and Dunn

OR

Sellar, McDonald, frawley

Any combination is reasonable enough to play good footy with some small players with class and a decent midfield. These aren't lose by 15 goal units.

Frawley is way down on form and McDonald is starting late but key defense is not a list management concern.

Now for all means I'd take another quality defender if available because I have little confidence in gillies or Davis. But when you can barely touch the ball for an entire quarter someone is going to kick a bag of goals.

He is showing just as much leadership in the back line as any others who have been there for years.

The lack of composure is no worse than Frawley or garland

Reminds me of a young J Stynes. Has an edge. Mike Sheehan said on AW today he's one of the shining lights just after he had interviewed Neeld (which Neeld again underperformed in).

Frawley looks like Tarzan plays like Jane. Should be a wrecking ball in defense instead appears to be treading water until contract time.

Tommy has a long way to go but seems willing to have a go and do the work...I thought our best down back today was Terlich.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
