Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

''Dees must get Sheedy''

Agree with a lot of what you say Bush, if things get worse the will step in as one sided matches ruins their brand and has dollar affects in TV rights etc. If they step in the next coach will either be Sheedy who is a great marketing man and whilst not bringing us to a Premiership he will get us competative. On the other hand Roos is well liked in AFL circles and this is also a road they could go down.

Whatever the outcome the AFL involvement will mean Schwab moves on as there is no way Sheedy or Roos would work with him.

In regard to the MCG no way I will take games at boutique stadiums against Meth Coast, Port, Brisbane etc but only 2 a year, 2 in Darwin and all other home games must be played at our home.

Hopefully we will turn it around and sort ourselves out

Yes. This is what a lot of Posters on 'land do not get.

The MFC is part of an 18 Team $1.2 Billion Broadcast deal, now if we keep playing garbage football that is over after 10 minutes The AFL will step in have no fear. If we want to stay at the 'G the AFL will make sure we are competitive.

Rounds 3-4 await.

2. Melbourne may be asked to play a number of their home games at a new boutique stadium such as a vamped up Princes Park. This option ticks off a number of boxes: it is a beautiful ground, is a traditional home of football is served by public transport and would create the 'full house' atmosphere the club desperately needs. Playing in the cavernous MCG is doing nothing for the Dees. Melbourne should not, however give up the G, it is still our home of football and we should play at least five games there, three of which should be reasonably drawing fixtures. If we can play twice in Darwin we can play seven games at Princes Park.

We managed to get 9k people to a Melbourne v WCE when we were good in 2002.

Craig Ellis was superb, the crowd was less so...

We will not want to play games there and our bottom line would be better served by moving those games that cannot be played at the G to Darwin.

if we are to move Neeld on either during the year or at the end then we would be mad not to go for a higly experienced coach this time. Sheedy would fit the bill nicely, despite his age. We need someone who can rev the players up, and he or williams or even matthews would be great to get this team back on track, but it shouldn't stop there with people being moved on...

Sheedy isn't right for us.

Give me a Paul Roos or a Mark Thompson any day of the week before Sheedy.

Whilst Roos and Thompson would come with terms and $, we can offer them things that match these things (ie life membership to the Australia Club, Melbourne Club etc.)

We need a modern day coach with the following 3 prerequisites:

  • Has won, and knows how to win, a Premiership
  • Has gone through and come out of a successful rebuild
  • Has experience as a top coach (see point 1)

Correct. At the moment we are so bad we can't even think about putting someone in place who can win us a premiership. If we can get someone who sets cultural standards and makes us a team who is a chance to win each time we take the field it will be a success. Whether Sheedy can do that I'm not sure but I'd be looking at guys like him, Williams, Eade, Clarkson or Ratten. We need an experienced coach who knows what it's like to win a flag either as a player or head coach.

What is Clarkson's contractual status? I thought he'd signed a new four year deal a year or so ago. Clarkson would be my first choice out of that lot. Inventive, hard-arsed coach. That said, I don't think we can sack Neeld unless we continue to loose by 100 points. Neeld will at least see out his contract if we start to become competitive again.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
