Half the team has the flu? Rumour...

Recommended Posts

I heard Watts, Dean Kent, and a few others have had the flu.

Kent played well for Casey yesterday but according to the club's VFL report ... Dean Kent: Played under duress with illness and showed some grit to play a solid game. He kicked an exceptional goal and again backed his speed to take the game on, winning 15 disposals and 7 inside 50s.

The post up above ^? Is that the one?

No, there were two others along the lines of ...

"It's embarrassing to use the flu as an excuse. Is it any wonder people from outside the club reckon we're weak? Have some pride."

Hardly a controversial statement but it obviously pushed someone's "sensitive button".

Sounds like cobblers to me.

Clearly, some players have been or are sick with flu, why should that be cobblers?

Add to the above mentioned names McKenzie and Frawley (both late withdrawals with illness in the latter weeks of the NAB), and a couple who missed training sessions here and there (can't be bothered going back through the threads).

f it was anything like Andrew Gaze had on ATB last night they shouldn't have played them! He was so grey you couldn't tell where his hairline stopped and his face started. Very ordinary look!

Round 1 VFL player review

Cam Pedersen: Cam was required to play in defence, as Troy Davis withdrew from the game with illness. In a much improved performance, Cam finished with 21 disposals and took 11 marks, which included a couple going back with the flight. Cam will take plenty of confidence from this game.

This thread is embarrassing. Imagine what supporters from other clubs would think reading it.

Have some pride people.

RR, post 34 says this....that's the one I was referring to.

The payers were reportedly wearing black armbands for Watts' Grandfather who apparently died a week ago. If true it might explain some of his aimless running around. I hope that is the explanation (well not for his grandfathers sake but you know what I mean)

I guess it's the perfect thread for this football club then!

I've amended my original post to take that into account.

No you're confused. The calf strain is the name of this particular virus. Terrible. terrible strain. Leaves a person unable to run, tackle, man up, understand instruction, hit the ball clear of congestion, lead into space, smother, chase or jump.

So it's a Mad Cow Disease mutation then, scary.

it is true - i gave it to them! Sorry

Rubbish. We've already confirmed that Cameron Schwab was responsible for the flu and Jordie McKenzie's calf strain and everything else that goes wrong at the club. If it's not him, then it's McLardy or Neeld or the bootstudder. Take your pick but I'm really  fickin mad at all of them. It's their fault. Bwah ...

I've had a cold for 3 weeks and live within 3k of the MCG.

I admit, I have infected everyone I have had contact, with the cold.

Strange my missus is really healthy.

Does his mean she is playing up.?

No disrespect to Jack Watts or his grandfather, and everyone mourns differently, but I would have thought that this could have been a motivating force to win against Essendon rather than a contributing factor to a 25 goal loss. Do it for Jack and his grandfather, in a way. There is a strong record in the AFL of teams using this sort of trigger to rise above expectations. Recent examples (but not as a comparison to Jack's situation at all) include Sydney beating Geelong at Kardinia park shortly after Jared McVeigh's daughter's passing and the Bombers 'doing it' for Adam Ramanaskis after his cancer diagnosis and treatment.

I'm not aiming this at you jrnmac, just that these things should help to motivate a team perform better.

There is a virus doing the rounds and I've had it (still have) it's pretty bad and if any of the players have it I feel for them. I got a call from Robbo on Friday about some FH stuff and I told him I was too sick to talk, he mentioned that one of his band had it as well. My son's Fiance has it and has been off work for a while.

I lost 1 & 1/2 kilos in a day.

I've had it as well for two weeks now going on 3.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
