Rory hasn't played for 18 months. We give him full season at Casey we'll have a different footballer on our hands next year/later this year. He shows more in patches than most on our list.

Yes, I think he is in the same boat as Strauss - has potential but yet to harness it

Just got home as I only could stay for the first half. Safe to say mitch will be better for the run but looked rusty. (understandable) Casey couldn't hit him on the chest if he was the onlyh plaer in the 50. I was standing behind the goals in the second quarter and his frustration at the lack of delivery was very obvious. even moving himself ono the wing for a center bounce just to get near the ball, and putting a 5foot nothing player in the goal square so he could play up the ground.

Trenners took some nice strong grabs early but faded in the second, safe to say he will be sub at best next week.

Blease seemed to be moving well and had some good runs, will go back in straight away id imagine.

Viney got plenty of the ball and free kicks (hits the packs low so will get a lot of high tackles), butchers the ball a bit though but that's understandable again from a young kid.

up

the rest were so so, nothing to get excited about . Plenty of media there keeping a eye on the main 3. helicopter flying in and out.

Now lucky enough I parked the car and as I looked up Misson was getting out of his car next to mine, he said hello to my young fella before I even made eye contact with him. had a 30sec chat to him as we walked to the gate. Said there is no reason why any of the players playing today would line up next week if form warranted it. Admitted Clarke could have played a few weeks ago but this game was the plan all along. What I gleamed from the convo was clark will play no matter what if he pulls up ok

Kyle Mathews comes off for a spell. And no one on bench. "Where is everyone?" He says. Some smart guy says they're all in the showers. Siren. 19.12 to 8.14

By the sounds of it WYL no injuries.

Awesome. Almost a full list to choose from.

No excuses this year.

Now that Moloney has walked there is hope for Colin Sylvia.

Bring on Round 1

Effort & Intensity every week

With most of the Melbourne players taken off, Casey finishes with no bench. 19.12.126 to 8.14.62.

greg denham will love this result.....any reason to put the boot into mfc

For Casey....if MFC Round 1 team is as "expected"...then Casey will have Magner Couch Evans Taggert Davis Spencer Barry etc to bolster their ranks

Thanks for the reports

I like that you haven't mentioned Strauss - really hoping he can create a spot for himself in the 22 this year. We don't really have anyother med-small defenders, I think he can play on med-smalls and has the speed/skills to be a geniune rebounder. I wonder why he did not play today, maybe Neeld already has him in his 22.

As for Magner I think he is in our 22, unfortunatly.

Magner is a rookie so he is not in 22.....etc was names I would invariably forgwt

Herald Sun report:

MITCH CLARK KICKS AT GOAL AT CASEY FIELDS. PICTURE: MICHAEL KLEIN HERALD SUN

JACK Viney is almost certain to debut for Melbourne against Port Adelaide next Sunday after a strong performance for Casey Scorpions today.

And the Demons have not given up hope that Mitch Clark and Jack Trengove could also play after both players got through three quarters unscathed of the game against Port Melbourne at Casey Fields.

Viney was one of the Scorpions' best players while Clark and Trengove were a little rusty after long layoffs.

Demons football manager Josh Mahoney confirmed Viney would likely make his debut next weekend, while Clark, Trengove and Chris Dawes (who did not play yesterday) would be assessed over the coming days.

Clark kicked one goal in his first game since a foot reconstruction after Round 13 last year.

He attacked the ball - and at times his opponents - with intent, but was sometimes frustrated by the opportunities that were presented to him.

Trengove looked a little underdone after overcoming stress fractures and struggled to have an impact.

Both he and Clark left the field midway through the last term.

Dean Kent, who had impressed the Demons during the pre-season, was reported after an incident just before quarter-time.

Trengove: good first quarter then hardly sighted.

Clark: moved well, but timing out and hands rusty. Better for the run.

Clisby: pace and moves nicely. Needs more bulk. Didn't spoil effectively when behind in a couple of one-on-ones. A number of possessions.

Fitzpatrick: pretty ineffective with the usual costly turnovers from sprayed kicks. One contributed directly in a goal.

Taggert: did some nice things.

Kent: was pretty quiet. Tried hard, but things didn't really go his way.

Blease: pretty good. Used his pace and looked ready for round 1.

McKenzie: got quite a lot of it. Good game.

Viney: really good. Turned it over poorly once, but got a heap of it and had some stellar wins out of the centre in the third quarter. Easily Casey's best.

You wouldn't promote either Trengove, or Clark on their output, but the club was more interested in them getting through unscathed.

Casey were murdered out of the centre today.

Left at 3/4 time.

Tynan and Taggert will both need big years i think

We planning to introduce a revolving door policy? Give kids 2 years, then just replace them with recycled mediocre players from other clubs??

FFS they're both almost first year players with the amount of injuries they had between them last year.

Taggert has played two games for Casey and missed 18 months of footy, and someone wants to pension him off... Unbelievable.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
