PRACTICE MATCH: CASEY SCORPIONS v FRANKSTON

KC from Casey

Recommended Posts

Has any player ever, who has played for the MFC, had worse skills than Fitzspastic Fitzspatrick?? He conistantly shanks, slices or even air balls. How he is on our list is just remarkable, and worse still is the way we have giften him 2 Rd 22 games. As the knobs say..... "It cheapens our brand" having him anywhere near the seniors.

did you go to or see any of his preceding games at casey that warranted his inclusion? As he showed real signs of potential stages there.

Yeah right. What, being tall? He is hopeless. Has been since first training session. I want him to be good too but he is very uncordinated, a dumb footballer and soft.

He earned his couple of matches in the first 22, on the back of consistent and solid form at Casey, doing what he was asked to do. If you missed that, or don't understand that, or weren't reading the Casey reviews, or didn't attend any Casey matches, or for whatever other reason don't get it, that's a reflection on you, not him.

Where was Jamar at when he was Fitzy's age?

He is a dud. I know he is one of us so I should like him. But as a footballer he is terrible. What have you seen in him that I havent? Personally I think he is the worst player to represent the Dees in my 40 years of watching. A massive liability and when he does anything remotely positive everyone says he is progressing nicely. He is seriously bad witha terrible workrate. Would not even be firstruck in many EFL teams.

Can I ask why he is a liability, having played the grand total of 2 games?

He was the leading goalkicker at Casey last season

Are you another one of those posters that just picks a player and away you go venting your spleen

He is a fwd/ruckman by the way, not just ruck, obviously you can't have watched him too many times to not know that

Boosdog must be right

You guys must be seeing something aren't. I think he is woeful in regards to skills, footy brain, coordination and 2nd efforts. And I watch a lot of Casey games. Agree to disagree.

Whilst alf Stewart may be going a bit hard on a guy who started getting in the best for Casey quite a few times last year, I do tend to agree.

His highlights package had zero highlights when recruited, and let's not forget we didn't rookie this bloke either, but got him with the next pick after gawn. Watched him in the first praccy match at Casey and thought deary me. He looked terrible. But hey he was tall so give him a few years. But now a few years later I still can't see what prendergast was thinking.

He has done nothing in the pre season games as well.

I tend to agree. He was a liability in his two games for Melbourne as well.

It will be a miracle if he survives the cut end of year.

He kicked 28 goals and 15 behinds in the VFL

not bad for 15 games 13th in the league as well...

Put him in the rape dungeon alf.

Come on guys Fitzy is a remant of the old recruiting team who thought speed was important for key position players when they should of being looking for ability and strength and skill. Don't get me wrong I don't want a team of slow players but big Fitz's speed counts for little because he isn't a big strong mark or ruckman and his skills are horrendous. A good VFL player doesn't make a good AFL player

Yeah exactly what we need. Less than 2 goals / game in the VFL. What a champ. Sorry guys but you all have rose coloured glasses on here. He is hopeless.

Casey were minor vfl premiers last year in case you missed that. Fitz played some pretty good football during the season as well.

What bothers me is that from what I heard we were going to pick Dylan Grimes at pick(?50-odd), but were stunned to see Fitzpatrick was still available, so took him, and ditched Dylan.

By the way there's a third brother,Aaron Grimes. I think he's tall. Has anyone seen him play?

Guest Spirit of 39

ABC commentators acknowledged during the VFL finals series that Casey really missed Fitzpatrick's ability to break games open with his speed and athleticism. He came third in the Casey BF and won their goalkicking. Fitzy has shown more at that level than most on our list. He knows he is under the pump to perform as he is in the last year of his contract. Let's judge him at the tail-end of the year.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
