Feeling absolutley spoilt with the quality of postings in this training thread. Thanks to everyone who's gone to the effort of conveying the session in such detail, including the photos - it really does give one a clear picture of the teams progress.

Bring on Round 1!

my stand-out today was Matt Jones. Like Taggert, he's tall, quick, balanced and a beautiful kick. At 25 he's ready to go. Where Magner dropped marks and butchered a number of kicks Jones' skills shone. I understand that supporters will be skeptical about a guy that was playing at Box Hill and overlooked by Hawthorn and everyone else over the years, but I can only comment on what I see and he looks a real find.

Gee, a Hawthorn reject: maybe we have another Brett Lovett in the team!

The match simulation had some turnovers, but a lot of that was to do with the defensive intent of the defending team. It was good to see, and easy to notice that the players genuinely value the defensive aspect.

Let's hope we don't come up against a good defensive side

Is it just a trick of the lens, or has Watts really bulked up over the off season? In the pic on the previous page of this thread, he certainly looks like he won't be pushed off the ball so easily this season.

Lucky to catch the match simulation, it was full on no holding back. The Howe Garland contests were great to watch. Most has been covered, just like to add, Viney is a hunter, he just wants to win the footy, he think he has no chance or beaten then bang he gets the footy or lays a monster tackle. He will be a gun and with Mr silk Toumpas running with him makes me a little excited

thanks to everyone for the training session info and pics much appreciated

Trust Dunn to pick on Bail, but not want to have a go at McKenzie.

So predictable, get a kick Dunn and stop trying to be a tough man.

Only Lynden Dunn could cop an elbow to the head and be blamed for it.

Just wanted to add that it was great to see Swooper Northey chatting to Todd Viney and Darren Flanigan when I got there. Northey had the same red and blue striped tie as Todd, so I wonder if there was some sort of breakfast that he'd attended.

Arthur Wilkinsons funeral was held today at 11 so I'd assume they were attending that.

He has looked really switched on and hasn't skipped a beat. Col had a great duel with Howie in the match simulation stuff today. They were pretty competitive, those two lads, and really wanted to get the better of each other. Col will be important for us this year.

Terrific report guys. Really appreciate when stuck at work. How was Judy Garland travelling on the track?

Training normally finishes between 11 and 11.30. You can park at Anderson Street Hill or MCG.

I don't know WJ, given the choice between being surrounded by fire or the Casey locals I'd have to give it some thought.

Bit of a generalization huh .... Careful with that ... I'm 10 minutes from Casey. Would you like to take an intellectual challenge with me..... Who know I most likely contribute more to the club a year than yourself.

Casey facility is class....

Excuse my ignorance but who's the young bloke in white with 4th footy from the right?

I watched training on Monday and he did a couple nice things putting blokes into space during the match sim I thought.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025.
