You must be thinking of the wrong player. Dyson's main asset is his pace! He's a speedy flanker/midfielder, but his skills let him down. He'd be worth a rookie spot, but not much else.

He reports that Dyson is quick and has elite disposal. Dyson's issue has apparently been his ability to find the ball - that said, this year he has consistently done so. It seems to me he'd pretty well slot straight into our midfield.

This. Ricky has good leg speed and a beautiful left foot. Not known for his hardness or ability to find a lot of the footy. But he'd be a good ball-user from a back flank and would release Grimes to the midfield. (Would be in direct competition to Strauss for a spot on the HBF.)

If that was the case he wouldn't have been delisted. Definitely worth a go though as he won't cost us anything.

If we take him, that would only give us three places on our list going into the draft. I think it would mean that we'll need to de-list at least one, if not two players. With Gillies coming in, as well as the re-signing of Macdonald, Dunn and Sellar, I think we'd be saying goodbye to Jetta and Davis.

With defensive depth we have now, Davis is no loss. I do think we should hold onto Jetta though. I like his attitude, and his kicking skills are quite good.

The guy was been on Essendon's list for 9 seasons, and had the form and fitness to be a regular in the side for only one of those seasons.

Ron, the footy fan world is full of nuffies who have no idea about the quality of players on their own list; hell, there are enough posters on this forum who reckon Lynden Dunn is "tough" and has "mongrel" to prove that. I reckon your Essendon supporting mate is one of them.

Nasher, I hear what you're saying, but believe me - even though my mate is a massive Dons supporter, he is pretty realistic about the Dons' list. For instance, after about 8 wins straight last year, he was still saying they wouldn't finish in the top 6.

He, along with the majority of other Dons' supporters, just do not seem to understand why Dyson's been de-listed.

For most of his 9 seasons, Dyson apparently couldn't find the ball. Always had elite skills and pace, just wasn't touching it enough.

Then, just as he seemed to be developing an ability to find the pill, he gets de-listed.

We obviously won't have to pay sheep stations for him.

To me, it seems a no-brainer given that we need flankers with pace and good kicking skills, especially as we now have plenty of talls, we have hard at mids (Jones, Viney, Wines?, Magner, Couch) and we've just recruited a couple of small forward options (Byrnes, Rodan, Barry).

I hope we get him.

What about Sam Lonergan? He got delisted and I always thought he was a decent, hard midfielder
