The spelling is anglicized but this was at the time considered CFC's biggest and most coveted prize.

After Demetriou's glorious reign over the AFL and in particular the hugely successful push into Greater Western Sydney as well as the wonderfully orchestrated failed tanking investigation into the MFC, he has decided to turn his inconsiderable talents to the mother land and take on the Greek Presidency.

Apparently Andy is so impressed by his chosen successor Giligan McLachlan that he feels very comfortable relinquishing the reins of power over to his young protege.

"Really there's bugger all to do except sit back and count the cash. Even in my wildest dreams I could never have envisioned the outstanding success that GWS would become. Last year they regularly had crowds in excess of Three Thousand!" Demetriou said.

When asked what was his greatest challenge was during his time in power he nominated the MFC tanking investigation.

"I go on holidays in the middle of the season for a couple of months and that little ambitious turd Anderson starts a tanking investigation into the MFC. What was he thinking? What's worse is that it's based holy and solely on what numb nut McLean says and that old hag Wilson's vendetta against Schwab. I had to do something 'cos Fitzpatrick was breathing down my neck threatening to have my balls in a sling if this went any further. In the end I sacked Anderson and appointed the AFP equivalent of Abbott and Costello to head up the investigation, spread some BS about Haddad being a United Nations investigator of repute which the media swallowed hook line and sinker and then let the buggers [censored] it up from the gecko. Pure Genius on my behalf if I do say so my self. It did take a while to bury that crappy investigation, we had to look as if we were actually doing something.", he was quoted as saying.

For now Demitriou is looking to the future and job ahead as Greek President,

"I've had a look at the books and they seem to be in tip top order. As we all know the Greek economy is the powerhouse of Europe and now must look to expand it's influence within the region, I'm thinking Germany could do with a hand".

Greece's gain is surely our loss.

Greece's gain is surely our loss.

Sounds plausible O50 but I think Demetriou's antecedents were like the Toumpas family, Greek Cypriot.

Not only that but it seems that he's already tried his hand at politics over there because, according to Wikipedia, Andreas Demetriou is "a former Minister of Education and Culture of Cyprus."

My mail is that he will soon retire from the AFL and re-open his parents' fish and chips shop in Sydney Road, Coburg where it all started which is a risky enterprise because the area is now strongly inhabited by Turkish Cypriots who, for some reason, don't get on too well with their Greek compatriots. This should not worry Andy too much because he has the experience and the capacity to reverse engineer a negotiated solution to the problem and is tipped in the Fin Review and BRW to go on and make a fortune from his new enterprise.

Meanwhile, Toumpas will go on to become the AFL's most influential player of Greek Cypriot origin, winning two Brownlows (including the one he shares with Jack Viney in 2015) and playing in multiple premiership teams for the Demons before becoming AFL CEO himself on retirement. During his term as CEO he will oversee the successful three day investigation into Carlton's salary cap rorts of 2007-9 which result in the Blues' merger with cash strapped Collingwood in 2033.

T$ Vs Carlton - 85% TOG, 1 Kick.

T$ Vs Sydney - 81% TOG, 2 Kicks.

Haha, thats gold.

I heard he had a ripper of a preseason, and judging from this it's fair to say that T$ is running out games strongly.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
