I understand the circumstances surrounding this, but the fact he is actually there makes you ponder a potential trade...

But why would MFC trade for picks 61 or 62, neither of which we'd be likely to use?

Bunkum.

Agree. Only pick 41 or 44 would come into play if there was a potential trade. Something we'd be likely to use.

A pick in the 60's is laughable. I for one would like to keep him & see what happend with an injury-free pre-season.

If this is true we are being stooged big-time.

'If'?

It isn't true. That pick would be useless to us.

So we are not 'being stooged.'

On the AFL website and MFC website under "Trade Winds":

"The Herald Sun is reporting that Melbourne midfielder Cale Morton might return home to Western Australia to play for the Eagles, perhaps in exchange for pick 61 or 62. Morton was the No.4 pick overall in the 2007 NAB AFL Draft, but has been a disappointment for the Demons. The Eagles are looking for a mature-aged midfielder to replace Koby Stevens, who they traded to the Western Bulldogs on Wednesday, and the thinking behind it is sound."

glad to see the list turnover but why didn't we go after Koby Stevens then? #caughtwithpantsdownagain

More space for him to work in on the big expanses of the WA ground.

Actually the MCG at approx 174 x 147 metres is a bigger expanse than Subi.

The Subiaco oval is longer by a few metres but at approx 120 metres, not nearly as wide.

As for Cale Morton and others who are rumoured to be departing - I hope Neeld and crew aren't doing to us what Royce Hart did to Footscray!

Not entirely accurate.

The boundary is 5m inside the fence, so the MCG's playing surface is 164x138m. Subi's playing surface is 175x122m

With a quick google search I managed to find your twitter feed and the original post. You were having a laugh with some mates before and after about whether dud journalists would pick this up and run with it. Absolute pisser that they have and that they clearly didn't do a basic search like I did and see your whole plan to suck them in. Even funnier that its Jay Clark! Classic! Well played sir

can you post a link to the twit feed?

Problem is there that he is already on a modified program until xmas, so a full pre season is out of the question.

The thing with Cale is that he is really a well liked, popular memeber of the team, bit of a leader amongst the young blokes, it should not be lost that he has some character, a constant whipping boy of the club, but not once have you seen or heard anything negative from him.

I for one kind of hoped that he got the oppurtunity to prove alot of people wrong. SOrt of a soft spot for him.

There's not much scope for Melbourne to get any worse DD

Good call Demon3 - i'm with you. He seems a positive guy, which would have been hard to maintain after spending most of the seasons in the magoos.

I also have a soft spot for him and hope he stays. I really believe that he is a real confidence player and struggles psychologically dealing with injury and poor form. I've still got confidence he can play a role for the dees.

I did enjoy yelling "MORTON!!!" during the GF.

He's a canary player for me, if we can turn Cale into a regular AFL player we will be well on the way. Keeper for me.

I don't know about that. Have heard somethings to the contrary

I'm still wondering about the role of the MFC twitter crew in all of this (i have no idea about twiter by the way and tbh have no plan to).

I would find it curious that anyone connected to the club in any formalish capacity (assimeing MFC TC are cconnected to the club) would be a party to spreading false rumors about a contracted player. Unless of course they have an agenda, in which case that would be pretty grubby

Your assumption is wrong.

The 'twitter handle' of the club is @melbournefc and it never says anything controversial.

I think CIP was referring to his other MFC mates on twitter, ie the MFC crew. Not the official MFC.

And do you, for a FACT, know that we didn't chase Stevens?

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
