why don't we keep the expectations Off the Kids, & let them slowly Earn they're stripes.

Hows about we put Numbers like Trengoves, or Frawleys, Grimes etc.

let the kids grow Quietly....

don't want to do to them what we did to Watts & others... let them learn how to cook first.

I got a feeling it would be water of a ducks back for Viney, i dont think he will be jaded by anything. He was easily worth pick 3 on his attitude alone.. Bout time MFC had some good fortune!!!

Viney,, maybe, but its a habit we Demon supporters have, of forgetting our existing players slogging it out, or Our Hero's of dynasties past...

We keep falling for the same trap of 'worshiping' kids before they've Even played a solitary game. The Great White Hope. so to speak.

Lets let the kids be kids.

There are young players who have been lumbered with enormous responsibility & pressures no one would want for in they're formative years.

Lets all get behind the ones who pull the biggest loads for us, & let the kids do they're stuff, quietly, in the others shadows... They'll (the kids) peep out when they're really ready.

Do i get Vineys number on my back next year, maybe get Hogans? I might like the guy we recruit at pick 4? what are people thinking?

What's wrong with your namesake's #13? I went with it the first year he wore it, never regretted the decision.

How many people got the number 31 guernsy come that draft time?

I'd give it a year or two...who knows what could happen *touch wood*

I did, and it's been put on ice until someone of note wears it.

For now #11 gets pride of place in a mark of respect to Jimma

I'd love him to get 23.

for me, 23 will always be affiliated with J Mac.

Hard working, hard at it, no flare, get the job done week in week out player.

Yes Jordie is still the favourite son, just got a bit excited about what appears like some good drafting by the MFC finally

Going to be hard to get Hogans since he won't have a number next year.

Cool Jordie, I just used your [post to suggest to all we go easy here on on our young kids & maybe try to not pump them up, before they have even started to realise they need to work hard.

I think we can all see current Young players on our list, who were drafted as talents, only to have been spoilt before they even started to work to AFL elite standards.

So I wasn't having a Go at you Jordie, but thought I'd try to sell the message for the good of all MFC.

The Whole club has been complicit in our failings of our developments from the footy dept', to the supporters our selves from being too Over Eager.

The result is young players who get ahead of themselves, before they've worn the dubbin off they're first pair of boots.

Maybe, thats a good Idea,,, for All our draftees, to not get a MFC number as such, Jumper yes, but without number until they start to really earn it...

Then Present the Jumper to them on the selection of they're first game. Either on selection night,,, Or, during the Pre-Game on game day, with parents in attendance.

This I think could have the effect of keeping outside pressure off them, but also make them strive harder to win they're first MFC Number, & pride in the jumper. It would be a reflection of their hard work.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
