Aussie - would we take him back - it's possible

he's fit - he's keen to play - he seems very happy within himself, and looking at the stats for his season up north - why not.

just thought I would throw it in as we seemed to have interesting thoughts on Buckley, here's another one.

Not much of an appetite for hard work Aussie.

Spent the whole time at Melbourne above his ideal playing weight. Came back from each of his end of season break in poor condition.

A talented player, who walked out on us. Would I take his lazy oversized butt back?

No.

Obviously another player the club failed to develop properly.

I loved Aussie as much as the next bloke, but all I hear is about his lack of work ethic...so no.

The bloke had more than enough chances and continually shat in the face of the very club trying to help him. NO.

How 'bout no Scott!

young fella had a hard time of it really. a bit more mature now, knows what it is all about. if he is fit, keen and willing to do what is required why not give him a chance as a rookie again?

Yes he's keen but good luck see how keen he is when pre season ramps up.

Big No would not flourish under our new serious training regime

I'm pretty sure he said in a recent interview he didn't want to come back.

He has left a big hole in the forward line as the small forward (pun intended).

Yeah I think it was an interview with Josh Mahoney a month or two ago, should be on the MFC site somewhere. Said something like that he didn't miss training, wasn't interested in playing, something like that.

He was in Melbourne at the time for some sort of mentoring/school thing.

Edit: Found the video.

Hell no! He was [censored] when he was fit. He played 2 good games ever! He'll be the worst player on any list if he is picked up.

I saw him play against the Brisbane Lions Reserves team in the NEAFL final a few weeks ago. He kicked two goals in two minutes late in the second term to bring the Thunder within a few goals at half time but did very little else for the rest of the game. Looked fitter than I expected but still some way off AFL standard. I don't think he wants it.

he's fit - he's keen to play

Stopped reading here.

He comes from the same school on fitness as Brendan Fevola and I.

He's had a tough time and AFL isn't for everyone. If he wants to make it back then I say he should return to the VFL/SANFL/WAFL and we keep an eye on him, but I don't think he does.

Now there's an idea. Fevola!!!!!!!!

Getting desperate now aren't we ?

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
