Demons for Docklands?

I have no idea, nor I suspect might some others what point youre actually trying to make.

You suggest demographics and hint there is something peculiar in terms of where and what demons are. In reality there is none. Melbourne supporters live all over land are a fair and normal repsresentation of football followers in and around Melbourne.

You somehow suggest a move of training and admin to a Docklands base would in some manner result in less games at the G.

Happy to have a different view to you, no probs

We are not pulling big crowds atmo.

If we go to docklands and setup a base, & people start to except that base, Vlad & the AFL's faceless 'scott' will start giving us more Edishat games. It will happen.

We will play less & less at the 'G' Allowing the Pies, Blues, Bombers, Cats, & Tigers to play more often at the 'G'. They already share Anzac day & the Dreamtime @ the 'G'.

We will be consigned to Docklands with the Saints, Roos, Doggies.

The day will come when 'THEY' make us merge.

What is our heartland? we have the smallest membership in Melbourne because we have not let outsiders in for years. I think the best expansion area is Casey and will remain so, but to have admin and facilities solely out in that neck of the woods is not logistically good. Where are all our current members flooding in form? they arnt.

The heartland is where our supporters recognise us. We all think of our Identity @ the 'G'. Our heritage, our highs & lows has been there.

If we move out west, IMO our supporters will slowly lose touch with our Identity & then we will be really @ Docklands....

---------------------

We gave in easily & had an away jumper before most.

We are the most polite, respectful & obedient Club in the AFL. We do as we're told.

The Pies, Bombers & normally the Blues stand they're ground. Don't take shittt.

If we are going to follow 'Doyle the Pied Piper', to docklands, we will be on shaky grounds.

NO DL NO.....

If & when the club starts winning games the MCG crowds will grow.

If the club keeps F$&@ing up & losing we will not survive regardless of where the training base is.

Is it not you that is always bagging the "Northern Stand" anyway?

Why are people worried?

It's a training facility.

You think Nought Melbourne should move or fold... or merge?

Training should be at the G and selection done down at The Melbourne Club.

No need for us to stray too far West down Collins St .

Things aren't that bad surely yet chaps?

I like the fact we stem from East Melbourne.

yeah, couldn't we buy one of those old churches in East Mrlbourne and tear it down and put an oval and training facilities in

something like that old decrepit bluestone catholic church

good idea biffo

The Blues have a setup with social facilities & viewing at Princes park.

The tiges are building they'res and renovating the training ground as we speak, social facilities overlooking the training ground.

E'd'ys Pies are building they're New training ground Now, on the old Athletic Track @ the Olympic's site.

We need to join in with the Melbourne Storm & Build one at the corner of Swan & Punt rd, right opposite the Richmond Station... We NEED a Social/Training centre for the supporters to reconnect with the club.

We're running out of time.

I was a bit surprised this was not already appearing here as a topic of discussion, but John Elliot has mooted that the MFC will shift its training base to Docklands (http://www.smh.com.a...0920-269jf.html).

Assuming there is some substance to the report, and considering our poor record there, I think it might not be such a bad move.

(I just realised why this topic is not already being discussed...I'm sitting in New York City reading Real Footy online, and may have seen it before everyone else has woken up)

why can't they just stay where they are, l'm sick to death of them being so bloody unsettled

I'd love a social club for before game drinks and to watch away games at with other dee supporters. I like drinks and I like noise so I can't hear Brian Taylor.

Your right, that when we start winning & getting respect back the attendences will grow.

But If we move to docklands we will be Going there to win new members from the new area. Those people down there will like walking to the ground at Eithad to watch us play there. as the membership grows down there, & after the AFL takes ownership of Etihad, we will of course start to play there more often. And win there, with our new defensive oriented gamestyle.

We will be conceding the eastern areas of Melbourne largely to the Pies, Hawks & the Tigers to plunder further. Edi & Jeff will be all over themselves laughing at how we missed the Olympic park precinct. And Benny Gale will be content in the inside knowledge of reestablishing the tigers inner city ranks.

who cares where people want to walk. We are part of the MCC so we will play football at the 'G. Thankfully that contract has been realigned.

A training Base on the edge of the city will not change that.

Why should Etihad Stadium have ANYTHING to do with it.

This new Training Base will be owned hopefully by the MFC.

Etihad or whatever Sponsor of the day will be owned by the AFL by 2025.

Don't be so paranoid.

This is just a pie in the sky project.

It only got raised this time because of the Melbourne Lord Mayoral elections.

Just Politicians prattle.

Will never happen, they cannot sort out the trains and roads because of no money.

How are they going to get a stadium up that no one needs.

If ever it will be 2030 before the first sod is turned.

Lets discuss things we will all be alive to see

C'mon WYL, your smarter than that.

We're undertaking the Casey arrangements, & then following that came the Docklands Idea & push. These were born out of new membership demographics, & cost savings at Docklands & probably also at Casey. AAMI Park is expensive remember, as is small attendances at the 'G'.

The club is desperate to increase members, wherever they can find them, and When we increase members from the Docklands & around that precinct, IMO We will start getting more fixtured games @ Edihat.

When the AFL take ownership of Edihad, I'm sure the rent will come down.

What I perceive is that the power clubs will then start to play more games at the 'G', & clubs like Bumbers & Car'ton who are playing a lot at Edihad, will get more fixtures at the 'G'.

Don't you think thinking businessman & Car'ton supporters like John Elliott & Mike Fitzpatrick are onto this Idea?

The Bombers would also be into more 'G' games.

Once we've straddled from the East end to the Western end, it'll be too late to get back our stonghold on the 'G', as the Heritage angle will be eroding away.

Beware.

We should stay at Gosch's paddock & AAMI park & develop an Admin/Social base there next to the AAMI Park facilities.

Or alternatively look to a partnership with the Tigers at Punt Rd, but I think we've missed that boat there as well, as the Tiges are well on the improve.

We are slowly losing a grip on the Punt Rd precinct, & we are enabling this to happen.

DL it's what you percieve. Not what will happen.

If the MFC does not play football at the MCG it means the club no longer exists.

And if that happens i will no longer care.

A state of the art Training facility similar to what the B ummers are doing at the airport can only improve the club in years to come.

It's happening, building is going on all along the cities Water Fronts, starting with John Cain Jnr @ Southbank in the 80's, & is winding it's way around the Yarra Riverbanks to Docklands, & will continue West.

They will continue to play @ the 'G', but mark my words, we won't get as many games they're after the big clubs are preferred, & fixtured there.

So you perceive we will stay @ home at the 'G' for everafter? You can't know, unless you've got a crystal ball that works.

So, what wyl you do if we start playing 5 games a season @ Edihad?

We signed a contract. We are part of the MCC.

If the club gets its [censored] together we will be fine at the G.

If the club continues to wallow we won't play at Etihad mate. We will be interstate or part of the Ammos.

We are talking a stand alone training facility here.

Nothing more.

No. If we continue to wallow we won't be interstate.

We will be merged with another battler, as they did with Lions & Bears.

IF, we 'venture west for capitol', & we continue to struggle down by the Dock of the Bay, we Will be merged with North,,, or Bullies...

Whatever happens with the Docklands precinct projects, the time is NOW, to plan for an Admin & Social complex near Training,,, & close to the 'G'.

The oportiuniities are there @ AAMI/Gosch's, if the will is, & the political pull is...

As I said the Tiges & Pies are building they're new facilities now as are the Bombers out at a hangar near them. Car'ton has completed they're s. The Cats are pushing onward & upward with a fantastic facility @ they're home ground. $$$$ They'll be raking it in.

Guess who, is still iffy with the Facilities, Admins' & the Social?? North, Us, & I'm not to sure re the Bullies with they're s.

We must keep up with them, or we will fall further behind.

# edit: What stadium? I think it was to be an open air training field with a building for some facilities??

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium.
