Hi people,

I have read several posts and first thing that stands out is the diversity if opinion from who should be coach to the game style, current culture at the club, clearing out the current list, who to keep, who to trade.

I have also noticed topics are randomly locked while others are not. For example an anti Liam Jurrah comment that wouldn't be tolerated in mainstream media is tolerated here but other comments involving mass player cullings or critique of the coach or the direction the coach is taking us are seemingly locked or not tolerated.

Can we say it as we see it or must we go with the general flow or mood of our members?

myself have followed the Dees since my namesake dominated Melbourne's forward line.

a general lack of leadership/inspiration from top to bottom seems to be the crux of melbourne's current problem.

what do we all think about this issue and am i somewhere near the mark of the general consensus?

Welcome to DL, DandP - I remember those players well.

It's a good place to share opinions which are often passionately and strongly held - sometimes with evidence, sometimes with just feeling, and sometimes with knowledge which can't be publicly disclosed.

I'm probably regarded as being in a minority with my views, but I suspect there is a 'silent majority' out there who are closer to my views than many on DL would think - yes, I do have evidence of that.

Your comment 'a general lack of leadership/inspiration from top to bottom seems to be the crux of Melbourne's current problem' is a good call IMO.

In any case, enjoy the discussion, and don't be afraid to express your opinion (and never take personal offence).

Cheers.

Welcome Dillon & Parke...you and i started supporting this beautiful rabble around the same time as the 2 afore jmentioned were early heroes of mine.

26 was the first number i had...

Good Luck in here it is a ride....

parke and dillon used to switch chf and ff. both were stars. dillon played big V as far as I recall. they were the days of gallery, biffen, hardeman, sullivan, davis, alves.....great side but couldn't get close!

Parke would have been a top line forward if he had been a more accurate kick.

Yes great players in a side that did not click. They should have.

just a kid back then. used to collect records after the match!! Parke was an incredible mark not dissimilar to Howe in that regard. agreed his kicking and leg speed were a little sus.

why didn't they click? what did we lack back then and what do we lack right now..??

Gentlemen, please, this is the Melbourne club. Black truffle sauce for me, but only if the truffles are sourced from the south of Tuscany by a reliable truffle pig.

the only sauce on the menu tonight is sam jacobs playing for the crows

hopefully for them he hasn't gone off

welcome dp. loads of rusted on opinion and yes the mod guidelines don't seem consistent especially in relation to LJ. stick to your guns and don't follow just for popularity ticks.

Dillon not only played Big V, he frequently was bog or in the best. A big occasion player, had lots of knee trouble, as I recall.

only problem with Dillon was he seldom looked for Vagg.

an interesting pc of trivia. frosty miller and pat flaherty once tagged teamed dillon and parke in a two on two social work match. dandy came up trumps and that was how parke first seriously injured his knee.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
