Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

How far under the minimum TPP?

The Albino Warrior

Recommended Posts

Green, Moloney and possibly Davey all gone come Draft time.

Numerous other players on a decent (if not stratospheric) wage will also be shown the door.

I know Clark is taking up a bit (although pre-injury he was looking like a bargain buy), but surely we will soon be way way under the minimum TPP. And if not, who the hell is getting the coin?

It depends on who we replace them with, I dare to say we have enough room in our cap next year to lure a very good player with a big front loaded 4 year deal. You are right Davey, Moloney and Green would represent approx 1.2-1.5mil per year

Ah, excuse my ignorance. I had it in my head that once you negotiated contracts, when you paid what amount became inflexible.

nothing stopping both parties re-negotiating terms and conditions

happens all the time

e.g. front or backend loading changes, pay cuts etc

many premiership hopeful sides have agreed to pay cuts to allow room for a prominent draft signing

as long as both parties agree its all kosher

If Davey pulls the pin and that is a big IF, his salary will still be in the 2013 books.

He isn't about to forfeit that - and nor should he.

Agreed, but being the last year of his contract, it's likely to be minimal, as it was most likely front ended. So I doubt it would free up much cap room, but not giving new contracts likely to be front ended to moloney etc would save some cap space.

Explain why he should not forfeit his salary? In any other job if you pull the pin and don't do your job, you don't get paid!.

because that would be a condition on him pulling the pin

otherwise he simply wouldn't pull the pin

redleg's idea is better

pay him for next year (as contracted) but give him a non-playing role as in coaching, mentoring or something else

he gets his money and experience in his next phase of employment - win/win

If his the one doing the 'reconsidering' then he should forfeit his pay. simple as that. If i want to 'reconsider' working my job I am pretty sure they wont pay me my salary for next year.

Keep him on the list, and make him train as hard as the others. If he wants to reconsider it then he will do so at his own loss. Not at the loss of the MFC

I have said this in the other thread - but you are naive and misguided.

He isn't 'pulling up stumps' to try his hand at golf - his foot - that he injured AS AN MFC EMPLOYEE may be in such a state of disrepair that he cannot continue playing AFL footy.

He isn't going to forfeit his pay.

My point is that if his the one to reconsider, then he should take the hit

If the MFC were the ones reconsidering then they should take the hit.

If the MFC's doctors think that Davey can keep playing then I see no reason to pay him out based on Davey reconsidering.

Must admit it never crossed my mind that he would still get paid out the last year of his contract if he retired, but I guess it makes sense if it is due to injury he has copped as an employee of the club.

Out of interest, if say someone like Mathew Scarlett has pulled the pin because he is simply over it and not up to doing a pre-season etc, and he still had a year to run on his deal, surely he gets nothing.

Comes down to what the MFCs doctors think imho

I would get rid of the 'h'...

And if Davey is 'reconsidering' I would wager it is at the club's urging.

We 'retired' Green and we may have to 'retire' Aaron too.

And we will make sure he gets what he deserves.

Doesn't Flash go onto the VL in 2013, I remember when he signed that his contract could have been back loaded due to that fact.

Only $100k pa of Vet's salaries now get taken out of the equation, however the difference being you are no longer limited to nominating 2 Vets

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
