Will any of our players get anywhere near the quality of that Hawks team? I long for those days! Was amazing footy, most noticeably to me the speed and momentum of the clearances

The ones who commit will. Those that train in their own time.

Those that we recruit with the right character.

Our efforts at recruiting in the past must be totally revamped.

September Football is the yardstick always.

We are 2000 light years away from it right now.

Makes me angry.

Mitch Clark gives me hope though, he has that type of character, and he's the best sign of our new recruiting. Gives me hope, if only the tiniest bit.

Mitch Clark may have to help the process. Talking to prospective recruits.

He has the attitude to succeed. I don't see it elsewhere on our list yet.

Jones?

Grimes?

McDonald?

McKenzie?

Jamar?

I see the hope to succeed in those guys, but not yet the attitude. I guess that comes with confidence.

Nope. Compared to last nights game, battlers.

Mitch Clark attacks the contest with authority. There is a huge if subtle difference.

I have heard the same .

Attitudes can be "adjusted".

Ball magnets are worth it .

Sometimes attitudes can be, Biffen, and sometimes they cannot. As a thought experiment, think of a loved one. Have they ever tried to change something about you? Have you actually changed?

now Gys is at a footy club - it is his job. How much have you changed for an employer? I've left several when change rubbed against the grain.

"You hire people for what they can do; you fire them for who are they are".

If Mitch can make the difference he has, imagine if we picked up a couple of FAs with great attitude, another around the 24 yr old mark, Jack Viney and a couple of hard working draft kids. Could turn around the attitude and work ethic of quite a few on the list. I'm suddenly excited.

Forgive me for having a small moment of optimism. Normal programing will resume shortly.

Confidence can snowball can't it. We looked to be walking a little taller when Mitch was playing, a few more blokes like that and the whole attitude of the group could turn around.

Watching Cook on ABC, he moves slower than Matty Bate I reckon.

Smith for Casey has something about him. I also like Wall, shame he left Casey and is now playing for the opposition.

Was just thinking the same thing about Smith. Good size isn't he.

I find it funny watching Cook, he has the head size of a power forward but his body doesn't match it!

Just mentioned on the VFL finals commentary that Gys and Cook have not been exited from the club. Interesting.

I'm sure they said that both players had been DELISTED by the club during the week.

Yeah, Cook doesn't seem to have much fire in his belly. Doesnt crave for the contest and struggles to get in the right spot. Still young though. If he's been told to go jump, why is he playing at Casey?

My impression was that they said there had been rumours of it.

Cook, takes a good mark, then kicks it straight to an opposition player 15 metres away.

The worst thing was, he picked the bloke out.

Wasn't smart.

They corrected themselves after that comment when given a message from someone from the club

At least when Jack Watts was coming through and out of touch, he at least had football smarts.

The message probably was "not yet"

I dont see how getting rid of a low pick that has shown potential after only giving him 1 chance to prove himself is a good call.

Can you honestly see Cook playing in September on the MCG?

Can you see ANY of our players doing that?!

(Not sticking up for Cook btw)

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers braved the rain and headed down to Gosch's paddock to bring you their observations from the second day of Preseason training for the 1st to 4th Year players. Jefferson and Kentfield looked big and strong.  Petty was doing all the training. Adams looked like he was in rehab.  KE

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
