What would restore your confidence?

What would restore your confidence in MFC if it has been dented by the happenings of 2012 and now the departure of some experienced players?

Finding out that the offer to Brendan Goddard that was too good to refuse was from the Demons?

Finding out that three decent midfielders have some how materialised and are ready to come to the club? LOL

Signing a new midfield coach and new recruiting team?

Or just a couple of surprises come trade period?

Continue with the night of the long knives,

draft and trade well,

big pre-season...

Win games of footy.

To be honest the last two days have restored my confidence, no more tail wagging the dog.

The new culture which begun with new leadership is now continuing.

Neeld was fair when he came in last season and did not cull players without giving them chances now if you aren't prepared to reach certain standards your out

I'd like the trade period to unfold to show that we’ve had a plan all along and have recruited some decent experienced players from other AFL clubs to replace Green and Moloney etc. Change for just change's sake isn’t necessarily a good thing, and I’d hope we haven’t cut them free based on a hunch that we might be able to pick up better replacements

Viney as a second rounder would restore my confidence as it sets us up very well for the future.

I don't know about Goddard, he is a headcase and I'm not sure he is an absolute leader,

I'd probably prefer Travis Boak - who is a leader, right down to the core, ,thats why Port are hell bent on keeping him,

they wouldn't be just losing a very good player, they would lose a lot of leadership and no amount of picks compensate that,

especially at Port atm, where leadership is needed more than anything.

We are Melbourne, also need leadership and Boak would help Jones out on that front.

I haven't been a fan of Moloney's, so the fact that I'll never have to see him in red and blue again fills me with more joy than is probably appropriate, but there you go.

Remove Brian Royal

1 more outstanding recruit lilke Mitch Clark through aggressive recruiting

Win more than we lose in 2013. This is improbable but is what I want more than anything else.

To win at Etihad, especially over North, who I cannot believe made it into the finals before us!!!

My confidence will only be restored by the only thing that counts - winning games. Therefore I will have no false hopes, confidence or optimism until we kick some serious arse in 2013

Bigger bodies after a huge pre season

Aggressive culling of the list - even if it went harder than even we thought ie. Magner and Couch as well as the other usual suspects.

Drafting of skilled FAST good kicking players - prepared to wait while they develop. Hell I have waited this long

New midfield coach recently out of the game

What would restore your confidence?

A flag!

I'll settle for a finals appearance at this point.

I'd settle for 8 wins including: a win at Pattersons, a win at Etihad, and wins against at least 4 top 8 sides

I'd settle for 8 wins including: a win at Pattersons, a win at Etihad, and wins against at least 4 top 8 sides

I don't want to turn this into a race to the bottom Hardtack!

3 experienced players (and good leaders) from other teams to come in and replace Green, Moloney and Jurrah.

I don't want to turn this into a race to the bottom Hardtack!

?

If we were able to land Viney second round and get Caddy or even Boak I would be happy with the off-season.

My confidence will never restore though til we win a flag, I'm never confident as an MFC supporter I've been conditioned to know better.

?

Monocular started with wanting a flag, I moved the target down to a final, and you moved it down to eight wins... Norwood trumped us all by asking santa for three new players.

my confidence hasn't really wavered! i have always had confidence that we can do good things with our list, its just a matter of getting the best out of each player that we have, which unfortunately we have not been able to do :(

That being said, a few big recruits and smart drafting wouldn't hurt and probably a new midfield coach would be nice :) GO DEES!!!

6 genuine wins next year

Action during the season will convince me things have improved

Talk is cheap and I have heard it all before on numerous occasions.

I'll start simple (though it probably isn't simple at all) - win three games on the trot. If we can do that some time in the near future, I'll have confidence in the MFC and hopefully we will no longer be the laughing stock of the whole comp. My wish is to one day be feared as a side that is a threat, rather than recieve sympathy for being purely embarrassing.

Ah I have to dream!

6 genuine wins next year

Does that mean we're allowed to lose to Gold Coast and GWS?

I want all of that and more.

But, the one BIG thing I want is a Flag !!

2014 would be nice symmetrically - being 50 years from the last one.

However, I am a patient man...as long as it happens before I am watching matches once again coached by Norm Smith in the MCG in the sky...

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
