I hope we're not shy come list trimming time

Recommended Posts

I've gone from thinking we'll be ruthless in the trade period to worrying who is'nt going to walk out on us! Green has retired, Moloney is all but out the door, Jurrah is gone, rumours that Rivers, Gysberts and Strauss are happy to hear what other clubs have in mind for them....

Guys like Morton & Bennell might be safe after all! I cant see Neeld going to the draft and having to use a heap of picks, especially when he is no big on Games experience and other stats....

I hear we been spending time looking at mature recruits waiting for a our younger generation to suddenly fire.

All good in theory however can we find enough worthy replacements?

One of the most sensible comments I have read on this thread - at least someone is thinking of consequences, not just ideal and debatable theory!

Those that are leaving or rumoured to be leaving are unable to buy in (Moloney, Jurrah) , or lift their game (Gysberts, Strauss) or prepared to wait (Rivers, Green)... Harsh to say this but if these boy are unable to lift to what Neeld and co require, we should trade, delisted etc... every one of them. Bring in players who are sold on the vision, solid and hungry (like Mitch Clark, Sellar, etc...) from day One.

I think I read Strauss is close to signing.

Bring in some WAFL players. Ive seen a few games over there and the standard was surprising.

Maldonboy you cannot de list Davey unless you want to pay out his contract and get nothing for him.

Good get Old Dee. I forgot about Davey's contract. But it is only the contract that will save him surely.

The word is that davey's foot is bung. Another year to go but dont expect much.

I heard he'll finish next year as an Indigenous officer? True or not, IMO he'll be off the List.

This is why I want us to talk to Schneider re a 2 Yr contract, whilst we National Draft a couple of small forwards.

We may not need to be shy, we haven't even started the cull and we've already lost Lawrence, Green, Jurrah, and probably Moloney.

Those who thought us changing over 10 or more players might need to re-think the numbers...

Looks like it could be 11-12.

A friend of mine caught up with a friend of theirs that works within the club. He believes the club will turn over up to 15 players depending on trades etc. Apparently Neeld hasnt been overly impressed with a large part of the list and wants to make massive changes. The plan is to replace them with draft picks and to find the top half dozen SANFL/WAFL & VFL players to replace them. I know people criticise on here when you use the friend of a friend line however I have been told things in the past through this guy and have turned out to be corrrect so take it as you like, and before you ask not sure of the guys name, not a known person but involved in the football department.

I'm happy for it to happen we all have our favorite players however to really only beat one team for the year (i dont count GWS, GC) it is time for big changes!

carlton and richmond didnt rate gc either...

15 players is a lot and part of me welcomes the change. things are drastically wrong at the moment so drastic change is necessary...gysberts,davis and cook are 3 i hope get kept if only because they havent been given a chance to show their wares while rohan 'cant hit a 20m pass on the run' bail continue to get games.

Annoys me to say but; bail, dunn, jetta and macdonald will all be retained

heard this from a bloke who has contacts in the club as well. BIG changes was what he told me and what you have describe constitutes BIG changes. WAFL is a high standard actually - ive seen some games there and seen some talent. Higher than the battler level at least.

I am sure it is mate.

He has probably no trade value

So we might as well keep him

I actually think he has some value to us.

Does not get the ball as much as in the past but every kick goes where he aims it.

That already puts him in front of 10 others on our list.

I think you will find it is him wanting out Choko not the other way round.

Boy wants to go

Im not sure I believe that. I think it might be partly because they think they arent going to be retained or perhaps testing the currency for negotiations

So the SANFL/WAFL/VFL is the best we can hope for in the future???

This can only be because we're really struggling to get anybody AFL to talk to us.

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
