You're opinion of Jack Watts will change when he matures. This will take time just the same as it will take time for Mark Neeld. Do you think Jack's the only young player not to make a huge impact at the age of 21? Do you honestly believe Watts to quote you "hopes he won't get there".. Crazy comment.

to quote our Coach MN ..."Take off your 7 day goggles". Watts will surprise you.

Clearly I couldn't disagree more. I hope Watts becomes an A grader, but unless his intensity lifts by a mile it won't be happening. I understand that many players get better with age, but they don't have Watts' issues. He's had 4 years in the AFL system and is as soft as the day he started. That's the significant issue holding him back. Many players that get better after the age of 21 don't have that as their major stumbling block. DoBoer at Freo wasn't drafted in the ND because he was a diabolical kick. He had talent, but his kicking was such an issue recruiters didn't want to take the risk, But he was always as hard as a cat's head. DoBoer has improved his kicking immeasurably and is now a valuable member of the Dockers lineup.

Last week Watts stood Johncock and this week he was minding Sunny Walters. It's terribly embarrassing. Even "Twinkle Toes" must look over at Frawley and Tom McDonald and feel embarrassed.

Ultimately, in time, we'll know whether you're right or I am. I hope it's you, but I don't see it. The glimmer of hope that I have is that Watts has regressed under Neeld. Last year he played a few good games under Bailey in the forward-line, but Neeld has different structures, which required Watts staying closer to goal and subsequently he had to stand under more long balls, which isn't his forte. We all know he's talented and I'd like to see him in the Gunston role at Hawthorn. So I'm certainly not suggesting Watts is a complete dud, or will be a complete dud. In fact, I reckon he'll play 200 games at Melbourne. But he was a poor pick one and won't be the player we hoped he'd be. Nowhere near it. Then again, my expectations of players seems vastly different to others that post here.

Our Jack is yet to have "a career defining moment" for the better.A No# 1 draft pick four years in, should have at least given us a purple patch, a couple of highlights... and the longer we wait the more we doubt him.

I hope the real Jack Watts shows up in 2013.

Watts look like a school boy last night, he spent a lot of time on the bench in the last, don't be supprised if he doesn't play next week not form related, I think his ankle was troubling him in the last.

Funny you say that. One of the blokes I used to play footy with works the games at Subi and was close to the Melbourne players on several occasions on the weekend. He said exactly the same thing, that our team looks like a school boys team in comparison to Freo and most other teams.

We desperately need big and hard players. Not until this happens will we challenge.

Agree we are only marginally in front of GWS and GCS

The worrying part for me is I think their kids are much better than ours.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
