thought he showed some real signs roday. how about the way he put those saints players on there ass then went back with the flight of the ball and put his body on the line which resulted in a goal. i think people forget this bloke hasn't done a full pre season for 2 years and it makes a BIG difference just ask steven motlop who is now showing benefits of what a full pre season can do to you.

hope he stays in the steam for the reast of the year. should give him confidence going into next year.

i also think Neeld is a big fan of this bloke too.

I love Neville Jetta. Gutsy and HAS A CRACK. Also has the pace to get himself out of trouble and can operate in a phonebox.

Kicking has improved, still a little way to go.

With a few games in a row, could become a regular up forward or around the wing.

He's like a Jamie Bennell if Jamie Bennell was not a massive fairy.

Nev is a perfect small forward in the Mosquito fleet mode. They are critical when the forward line is wide open. Not convinced about his ability in the packs and at the feet of the tall forwards.

There is something I love about Jetta.

He has something we lack. Attitude? Hardness?

Who knows, but it's great to see.

Not the most talented small forward going around, but he works hard and kudos for standing under packs and running with the flight of the ball, after spending a whole year out injured.

Loved the sacrificial tap forward running back with the flight of the ball in the final quarter which resulted in a goal, very courageous when he knew it was going to hurt.

Stays if Neeld wants him. Goes if he doesn't.

Really?? you reckon???

Anyway....our Jetta came to us as a midfielder, not a small forward....he is great in packs...like someone else said can operate in a phone booth...has a great side step.

If he can get a whole season without a major injury we would see how good he can be.

Career turning point.

As I said earlier in the year, Nev is the kind of player Neeld will love, if only he can get fit and get on the park to show it. I think he earned a lot of points with the coaching staff today. Still needs to get more of the ball, but that will come with improved fitness. His hardness and courage set the example for a lot of his teammates.

I must have been at a totally different game.

Last quarter was bearable. First 3 quarters lacked a lot of heart.

I'm a bit of a fan - has some serious footy smarts, quite a few tricks and is hard at the footy.

He'll not think twice about tackling Ben McKevoy or Ko-shyte-ski with good effect.

He kicks the ball cleverly but not too far at all - 40m would be his max.

He's quick thinking but not quick over the ground IMO

He's never done a preseason, so I'd like to see if one could get him more into the game.

Considering that Wonnamerri (spelling?) quit, Jurrah has been injured and out of form all year, Clark is gone for the season and anyone else who could be a crumbing forward on our list either woefully out of form or injured I think Nev is a pretty safe player on our list.

Nev has flown under the radar since injured but he did some quality stuff in the Bailey years.

If Neeld doesn't like him, we'll get to see how good he can be ... playing for someone else.

Classic. Great post. Haha.

I have been wondering for a long time what this guy offers, I think he showed a little today, especially early

For me it's never been a question of what he offers. He offers guts, aggression and hard work. The question's always been is having better than most G&D, but without speed, size or class, enough?

I think that it is, at least in the current climate.

So am I, & have been all along.

I like his Honest straight ahead no frills game. a player who will be built on guts & hard work to enable his inner natural talents to eventually shine through. He has instinct. Intuition, call it what you will. Anticipation. This will grow & show as his confidence grows.

He's not a faint heart of a lad, who wither in the heat.

Will get better with a few games under his belt, I thought he looked ok today and a bit of fitness should get him a few more possessions. Neeld said the other week he likes Nev so he'll be a stayer.

More like him and Tapscott and they will be stepping out of the way .

I think Nev may be a victim of other peoples' expectations to some extent. A lot of people look at him and see a small aboriginal player, so they expect lightning speed, flashy skills and the odd freakish moment. That's just not the sort of player he is. He's a hard, tough, courageous combatant who will fight for the contested ball and do well in traffic. He is more like Brett Kirk than Cyril Rioli.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
