The Clash Strip That Wasn't

Featured Replies

Can we blame the direct handballs to opponents on this?

Why the White today?

I concur fully DC.

FMD

I would like to have a mainly red strip with a touch of blue.

We could use it against the Blues, Saints, Pies.

Would it be too much to have 2 clash strips?

don't need a clash strip against the aints (nor most so-called mfc clash teams)

Agree. Clash strip today was stupid.

I don't know what was wrong with our clash strip of 2004???

I found it confusing at times today.

Fail.

Another example of the AFL being too smart by half!

Yep, they have no idea with this clash strip stuff. It really isn't rocket science.

It's plain stupid that we have white in our clash strip. The sides we clash with also have white so it just makes it worse! Just invert our normal jumper!

its ludicrous. In the past we had one team with white.... now we have two !! Clever

There were a few occasions where our backs kicked directly to an open Saint that can only be attributed to mistaken identity. Yet another uniform stuff-up from the almighty AFL.

I couldn't believe that we wore a clash strip that clashed.

I appreciate that we were expected to wear one because it wasn't our home game, but why didn't a Melbourne official say this is ludicrous and that our normal jumper is far more appropriate ? And if they did, why weren't they listened to ?

I'm hating the AFL more and more every day.

If any tweaking was needed it was simply to have the Sainters play in normal jum;er with white shorts and Us in normal gear with Blue shorts. Too simple obviously

Was ridiculous, I struggled, and like the rest of me, my eyes are perfect.

What's ridiculous is that this is still an issue.

Get over it, people.

The AFL says our home guernsey clashes with Essendon, and thus we have to have something to wear against them which will solve the problem. More red does not solve that problem. Hence the white.

[censored] off.

Why? Logic too much too handle?

In case you didn't notice, we're talking about today V St Kilda, not Essendon.

Take the above advice.

According to PeterJames, Tall Defence and UTAH, we'd be better served with red. I was commenting on that.

I think they do it for marketing opportunities.

I've always liked the idea of reversing our home strip. Blue V on red, anyone?

Wish I had a gold coin for every time we've been over this topic.

closes eyes, slaps forehead and whispers under his breath...missed the point.....long exhalation of breath

I am still O/S so didn't see the game.

We wore a clash jumper against St.K again??

Hahahaha....Why...?

Points to following people saying we should wear red, slaps forehead, and whispers under his breath...did not miss point, but in fact was totally on topic, given there are still people who don't understand the source of the white.

Reverse it or royal blue it.... Simple footy really...

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
