Sign Blease Now

Question is ... would you try to sign Blease for two or for three years?

Three for me. The future looks rosy for Sam.

I would give him a 3 year deal. With some big incentives thrown in his contract

I agree with this, 3 years at a fair price, with bonuses when playing x amount of games and coming top 5 in B&F. I'm sure there'd be more they could put in but that's where I'd start.

His manager will only want to sign him for 2. He is a player whose value in 2 years could be very hard to guage now.

The most pleasing part of the interview is the mention of the extra work he is doing in preparation for next pre-season. This is the comments that the good teams make and is starting to be heard more and more in MFC interviews.

No lose situation - he's increasing his market value.

It would be completely unacceptable and an indictment on the fans if the club didn't sign him. There are simply no excuses. Get it down. Losing both Scully and Blease would simply be unacceptable. It would be the same at any club.

Why is that the question?

3.

I'm confident he'll be worth keeping for at least that long.

I'm not sourcing or divulging my 'sauces' but I'm telling you all right now that Blease will not be going anywhere.

He is so appreciative of how the Club supported and counselled him during his major injury. Further, he has several very close mates (Gys is one of them) and he loves the place.

Will sign.

Get it done.

Skills, pace and goal sense.

Surprised you're not excited, H. You want talent, Blease has more talent than most on the list, and only has one (fixable) flaw.

If Howe got 3 he deserves 5. Definitely worth a 3 but will see how they structure other players. Just off topic but do GWS and GC have selections in the pre season draft. In their first years I think they didn't for some reason.

and only has one (fixable) flaw.

Fitness and defensive ethic.

Fitness and defensive ethic.

Fix the first and the second will follow.

He's already making inroads on the defensive side, it's just that he's knackered half the time.

I like the fact that it is well advertised about Sam's lack of fitness/defensive acts he knows it,we know it and even the commentators know it but he is working on it and you can see some improvement already. Here is someone who wants to be better and is/will work his ass off to get there.

Sam Blease is a bright light at the end of a long and dark tunnel that is MFC.

His potential is enormous and he is one of the players we need to ensure remains a Demon.

Those on the list marked 'to be signed in October if we can't recruit better replacements' are not in the same class as Blease.

With Blease, Tom McDonald and Howe all having had good seasons and with Clark, Jurrah, Jamar and Watts to return from long term injuries I think we are showing positive signs.

Some top draft selections will be 'icing on the cake'. A couple of tough, ready to go types like Jack Viney would be a good start.

My only frustration with Blease is he can put on the pace when he is going for goal but cant do the same when chasing an opponent.

However I know he has been working on this and interesting to hear Neeld say he spoke to Sam about his defensive side of things after the first few rounds and Sam just looked at him like he had no idea what Neeld was on about. I know Blease missed a bit of footy with his leg but wouldnt the previous coaches helped Blease with this and taught him to be defensive.

Anyway I was rapt for Blease yesterday and hope we can see him play good consistent footy and build on it into 2013.

I must have missed that.

I will also rah rah this post...

Seriously though, about 4 of our most neurotic and hopeless Landers said he was off.

Most of the rest of us have a modicum of confidence and calm.

Few Eric Pierces' amongst you lot, Blease has been a gun for a fair few games now.

He don't need to kick 5 to tell me that.

I'd sign him for a duration that Blease is after and pay him well.

We got a fair few to delist and a couple more high paid players on the way out.

The kid has X factor and everything else we need and above all, he works damn hard.

Once he gets a tank, he'll rack you up 10 tackles a game regularly - and thats only a small part of the package.

Fitness and defensive ethic.

And more muscle. But that too will come, especially with Misso on his tail.

Really want him to come back from his end of season leave in tip top knick. Gyz as well.

yeah well i knew he was a gun like 10 years ago when saw him play under-10s :0

besides you cant say he was a gun, he has done many gun things but they have generally they were good moments in very quiet games, until yesterday

I believe in Sam

I would like this but only a nuffie thinks he is off because his mate went.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
