No one will care if we win. The question is 'who will care if we lose.'

I think it will be the final straw for a lot of people.

Final straw? Have they seen our list and our injuries? No proper full forward, no first or even second choice ruck and the usual crap midfield. How are people expecting a win?

Having watched the GWS win today it is clear that draft picks, if used correctly, are the gold of AFL football. GWS have a sensational bunch of young kids and they have clearly drafted well. We haven't.

If we use our draft picks well this year, get JV as a second round pick, do a couple of good trades, we could be back in business a lot sooner than many think. GWS have shown that young mids can play well in their first year, so we have to pick a few good ones.

Yes i did say that Sloonie, because i knew what the club was doing. If you are going to do something, do it right.

But it didn't work. So i prefer option B.

Is that ok??

Why do you keep saying it didn't work? We haven't used the compo picks yet.

Why do the mea culpa advocates refuse to acknowledge this point?

Aint that the truth.

Hope we do a better job this year

Of course It does help when you get to pick every other one in the first 20 Redleg

Exactly. For me it's easy; an extra classy 10 year midfield player (which we need. period), or a couple of extra "W" in the win column.

Now tell me what's meaningless- a win that no one will remember come round 1 2013, or Wines/Grundy etc playing 200 for the dees.

Don't be daft. If this tanking can of worms wasn't recently opened there would be none of this high moral ground win at all costs talk.

Please RR. You are giving slack and excuses for the last 5 years.

We drafted very poorly.

Correct.

Couldn't care less if we finish lower than 16th.

The Tanking issue has nothing to do with wanting a few wins.

That's a decent sized "if".

No argument from me.

But why do the failures of BP mean we are consigned to failure at the draft table this year?

That's defeatist.

I don't know if I can be bothered with this if we win the spoon this year. We will move a couple of positions up the draft order but will lose 5,000 in membership and many could have been members will simply stop caring. No kid will want to barrack for Melbourne and we will lose another generation of supporters.

What ever the outcome of the rest of the year, MFC is looking at a huge hole in membership and sponsorship next year. MFC has been an on an off field rabble this year and an unmitigated disaster. IMO the wooden spoon is neither here nor there. It just further evidence of the basket case that we are.

I would welcome the improved draft pick positions

I would prefer a few more wins this year so maybe a few footy jumpers are sold over summer.

.I will gladly swap a few polyester jumpers for the opportunity to get better players.

It didn't work because we chose poorly.

Option A is a guarantee that Viney is second round, whilst first two picks are top 5 prospects. At this stage of the season I prefer option A.

Too hard for some.

Who said we are going to fail at this years draft??

We will already have high draft picks regardless. Some wins on the board this year could help the free agents want to come to this club.

Stop accepting failure now. Look at port. No thanks.

"So Travis, what do you say, 1 million per season for 6 years, you in?"

"Did you beat Gold Coast?"

"Yes!"

What do you think would affect a free agent's decision to come to us more ...

1. An extra win or two.

2. The guillotine of tanking sanctions hanging over our head.

I know AFL footballers are dumb (circa McLean) but they are not that dumb to suddenly think a couple of cheap irrelevant junk time wins against AFL interstate project clubs suddenly change us from being the Afghanistan of the AFL.

You have already tried to use the past 5 years to impact what happens in this draft. You are definitely defeatist and accepting failure.

Sheedy just proved his point, he is smiling in the box because he is justified.

Sheedy is sending a sign to the Melbourne Football Club right at this moment.

This is a great day in the life of Kevin Sheedy.

Some paranoia here?

Do you really think that Sheedy spends all his waking/working time worrying about the MFC?

Its Einstein,,Mr Gump.

I could explain it again and again and you would never understand. Rover has already highlighted it but like most simple issues it passes along the highway over your head.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
