I wouldn't delist him, has more talent than a Dunn or Bate.

I really just think he hasn't been able to get to full fitness this year, because of injuries.

Deserves one more year to prove himself.

Yes, let's keep them all. They all deserve another year. The fact that we've only beaten two Victorian teams since 2007 shouldn't come into our thinking whatsoever.

Recruiting is a skill. One of the skills that rarely gets mentioned is a recruiter's ability to determine the role at AFL level that's going to best suit a particluar player, because far too many find it difficult to make a position their own. Players such as Petterd, Morton, Dunn, and Bate have struggled to find their best position.

I remember Cam Bruce early in his career starting as a tagger. He embraced the idea because it gave him the versatility to play regular games of footy. He already knew he could go forward and kick a goal, but he added strings to his bow.

Too many of our players are 'tweeners' that have struggled to find their highest and best use.

I've said this a million time over the last couple of years - his kicking action is deeply flawed, I've watched him very closely - he drops the ball way too high and nobody at the club seems to have told him or bothered to rectify it. Whenever he lines up for goal these days just put it down as a point.

He has his moments (although not this year) but they are generally few and far between.

Petterd has played 54 games, of them, perhaps 12 have been good & about 5 of them were in 2010 before he busted his shoulder. Maybe he just isn't that good a footballer? Flankers of his ilk are a dime a dozen.

er....maybe just not good enough. We have all had them over the years. Flash in the pan - Darren Cuthbertson springs to mind for one. Actually touted by Sheedy (before he became senile) as AA FF.

plus Dunn, Jetta, Moloney, J.McDonald, plus about 3 more at the end of the year

Harsh on Jetta, but otherwise agree.

Best case scenario we manage to package Petterd in a trade with a draft pick for either a pick upgrage or best case scenario with pick 13 for Caddy.

This is an interesting point and reflects many of the coulda shoulda quotes about ricky

It does however point to the coaching. Arent they supposed to get the best out of the player and use them in the role that best suits their talent. Or at least let us know what is wrong (ie injury)

If ricky was talented at forward defence (tackling) that would seem to be a role the coach (hardest team to play) would want to exploit.

Maybe we just didnt get the ball enough into the f50 and there wasnt enough other defensive forwards to really benefit rickys strength.

Would hate to see him go to another club who use his strength aginst us because of better structures/ plans/ coaching

But if he really doesnt fit our list then at least try and trade effectively as othrers here are suggesting for someone that does fit our requirements.

Agree - will be gone. 3rd round pick.

At least Cuthbo kicked 7 in his first two games!!

I think you're showing your inability to articulate yourself and form a coherent post...

I don't like to give out too much information of what I know, & my experiences, so I put my thoughts out there, & let them sit & be considered or Not.

It's up to other people to ponder the what ifs of what I've said, but not to just have a knee jerk reaction.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
