If caddy isnt interested then lets look at people who are

I am glad, for the life of me I don't see what the hype is about.

I took particular interest in him this year.

Watched two games on Tv, Live vs the Dees at the G and read every week's reports on the GCS games.

The guy IMO is average on a good day.

Seems to have too high of an opinion on his own worth. Happy for him to be elsewhere

I couldn't see much other than potential with Dangerfield in his first 2 years. He's really only turned it on (x 10) this year.

My view is - if we want Caddy and we're in the best position to take him - we should.

The only reason I wouldn't take him is, if the MFC cant see him as part of the grand plan and Caddy's (possibly unfounded) reputation as a tool.

His demands as a second year player would lend weight to the tool theory.

Sorry but who the hell does Caddy think he is. How his output allows him to think he can be so selective is a joke. Either you want to come home or you don't. Whilst I understand why you would not have us as a priority to ignore the club that most likely has the best ability to bring you home is arrogant to the point of stupidity. Move on from him and develop our own. I only want players that are hungry to play for the jumper.

That may be hard given our present plight, but it also isn't necessary.

Robert Walls loves telling a story about Craig Lambert. He told Lambert that they'd be taking him as they had first access to him. Lambert said I won't play for you. Brisbane took him anyway. Walls rang Lambert after the draft and Lambert told him to go and ...

Lambert cooled down and decided he had no choice, but to go, as standing out of footy for 2 years wasn't much of an option. He stayed 18 years in Queensland. He stayed on as a coach after he retired and loves the club.

You've just got to get players onto your list. If you become a good club the rest takes care of itself.

Yeah, I am also going to have to disagree with that last line. They'll like us when they are on the list.

If you put yourself out there in the AFL industry you may not go to the club of your choice. I wasn't put off by Luke Ball being intransigent a couple years ago. Schwab wasn't put off by Clark's desire to be on the other side of this huge continent.

Caddy might quickly learn the lesson that you don't always get exactly what you want. If we want him, and GC don't see a good deal elsewhere - Caddy will have a decision to make.

I agree with this to an extent. My concern is that Caddy has done nothing in his football career yet that should warrant him picking and choosing the club he wants to go to. If he wants to come home, come home. If he wants to respect the club that picked him and gave him his football start dont discount a club that may give them a fair and reasonable trade for your services. This to me says more about him as a person than anything else.

Anyone we pick who says they don't want to play for us is going to have a tough pre-season.

Where these kids want to play and where they go are different things sometimes.

They can learn to live with the responsibility of dragging this club up the ladder.

200 or 300 grand and a nice hot cup of STFU should sort out any problems they may have.

You can't blame a kid for trying to get to a club that he wants to play for. He knows he will get traded back here, he is just trying to get to a club that is his choice, not just being told where to go.

As to your other point, I agree, I am over him. To date he has not done much and it looks like a brawl to get him and someone will pay way overs. There must be others who are as good, if not better, that we can get for a fair deal.

If I was him and I had about 5 Vic clubs that wanted me, I'd not meet Melbourne either.

Why meet the club if I have a preference for others and I'm fortunate enough to have a number of suitors ?

Agree. Some people have to understand we are not Shangri la.

I'm with those who are of the view that we shouldn't allow players and their management to stand over us in regard to recruiting. If we want the player and believe he fits into our plans, by all means go for him.

By the same token BRFE makes the point that Caddy isn't all that good. He finished 17th in the B & F of a club that finished 17th in the competition. He didn't set the world on fire in the few games I watched him play and even if the reason was because he wasn't happy in that environment after wanting to go back home, I don't look upon that sort of attitude very favourably.

Let the other clubs fight for him. I think there would be no shortage of available midfielders of equal or better ability at pick 13 or alternatively other trades possible for that pick which seems to be the approximate cost of a trade for him if there are as many as five other suitors. Good luck to him and to them.

if you want something you have to go out and get it. Not going to come to you easy. Players aren't knocking on our door. We can't offer a premiership in the short term so we have to pay the $$$.

The reality Caddy and His management want to stand all over clubs. Caddy wants to choose his club and not a club choose him.

Regardless of what any of us armchair experts thinks of Caddy, the sheer number and calibre of the clubs chasing him should speak volumes.

If Neeld's footy dept rates him, has a role for him and wants him - GET HIM.

None of the clubs after him can work out what he is worth which suggests that its not just armchair experts that are unsure about his value.

Smells of Brent Prismall and Robbie Warnock all over again.

I've seen him play about 8 games, and still don't know if he's worth chasing. He's shown class, skill, and good decision making at times. He's also shown poor skills and decision making, and a few instances of ball gazing.

So he reminds me a lot of a number of our players. Except that he seems more up himself.

Prismall is still an essendon player..... they signed him up good and long, geelong must be laughing

We were heavily into Prismall and Warnock and both didn't want a bar of us especially Prismall. Now I look back and think thank christ we didn't touch these 2 duds of the highest order.

Now this is the pivotal deal for us - if we can get involved it could easily make our trade month - if we cant get involved things could easily go sour.

I just pray we can get involved.

What deal exactly?

Where he goes to North, Collingwood, Geelong or elsewhere .... I'm not sure it really matters as long as we can get involved ... maybe not directly, possibly indirectly thru Gold coast.

Plus we will see who was "really bluffing" on the Viney saga. I just hope the Caddy situation scares both GWS & GC away from Viney.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
