Changes v Richmond

Ok, with a bit more info, and a couple of injury guesses, here's my go at a last minute guess of what it will be (not necessarily what I want it to be):

OUT:

McDonald (inj), Dunn, Bail*, Spencer*

IN:

Couch, Cook, Jones*, Jamar*

The ones with a * depend on each other, ie: if Jamar is right, Spencer will come out, if Jones is right Bail will come out.

Changed my mind about Beamer given he's still our leading clearance player and taking into account the mids we're up against.

I have doubts about Green, Davey, Jamar, Jones, and Sellar, but hopefully at least 1 or 2 of them will be right, but who knows?!

Gee I was reading this thread and looking for an apology to Brey9186 Hardtack. Can't seem to find it?????

Maybe he has fallen off his high horse..

Why should there be an apology? It was posted a long time before any official announcement was made and as such could only be considered speculation (I even stated that it may well be true, but...).

Very noble of you to talk for Brey9186 jnrmac, but there will be no apology forthcoming as none is required.

I bet a million dollars Bail will not get dropped...he was out for four weeks or so with concussion and got straight back in.

And he played like it too dd.

only Spenser had less possessions

What I am saying is that there are five others that i would drop before Bate based on last sunday's game.

I'm with you, Old Dee. I would have had Bate in my Top 10 performers against BL. I'm surprised that, in Morton's absence, Bate often features negatively in these forums. With specific regard to his performance last week, his last 3 quarters were IMO quite impresssive. I think he's a bit of a slow starter and lacks confidence. He is still struggling to adapt to the pace of the game at this level in the early stages. I think this will come given time and I suspect that he will become a good, consistent contributor. Using him as the Sub is a bit counter-productive because there are others who can come on and have an immediate impact for a short time e.g. Blease, Bail, etc. I see his strengths as:

  • pretty strong overhead mark
  • decent kick i.e. long, accurate and able to weigh up options
  • runs all day
  • can spread
  • will put his head over the ball

His weaknesses (as I see them) are:

  • Not a sprinter
  • sometimes seems to be unaware of what's going on around him - Nate Jones was the same up until this season
  • Starts slow. His stamina only starts working to his advantage as the game progresses.
  • Lacks presence on the field, needs to demand more of and for himself and others

Given how he's performed this week and last, I would be very disappointed not to see him in our starting 18.

One of rivers or garland needs to go back to the back line, frawley can't do it alone.

Bring one of cook, Fitzpatrick, or Williams in to play up forward with garland or rivers.

Old dees mate bennell to come in to play on nahas

Other than that, continue to shuffle the deck chairs and hope jamar and jones are fit

Wow, surely you have not seen Casey much?

Williams is as slow as wet week (atm) and seems to lack intensity at VFL Level

and Jack F - is not ready yet

lets play Bate as a fwd and see how he goes!!

Going to be interesting to see who's playing at Casey. Green? Davey?

Gysberts certainly picked a bad weekend to have an off day last Saturday, there would surely have been a place there for him.

Bennell ... Lazarus!

Two biggies out

Two littlies in

< Jones Bennell

> McDonald Sellar

OD now in a foetal position

No DC that will occur about 4 PM on saturday.

His previous two games at Casey were ordinary followed by not playing last weekend then into the team.

I am seriously beginning to worry about our FD

On the positive side perhaps they are letting him dig himself a big hole so they can fling him at years in without protest from one person on the planet.

I am amazed he is playing at all.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
