WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JIMMY TOUMPAS

Featured Replies

When was the last time we had a Greek Boy ?

I really cant remember any at MFC.

I like "Jimmy Stomp-Ass"as a name .

"Pethi Mou-Stomp-colos"

that would be Loukas Beveridge

George Lakes was greek back a while

Not anymore though?

Was it Jimmy who once said that he always goes for runs in the rain because he knows no one else will be?

Lets not go overboard on Little Jimmy Yet.......Is yet to play a game......Don't want Jack Watts expectations....

I hope like hell you are all right with your decriptions of him but lets wait until he has played a few games before calling him the saviour....

Go home factor

Bah, humbug ... the last time we had a high first pick in the draft, he was a local kid who signed up with an interstate club half an hour after he arrived at the airport ... and he was only there to have "a look around".

I assume you mean Beijing Airport?? Then flew home asap

Good point....but don't you reckon that our recruits at least LOOK like (physically) they're ready for modern day footy?

No more 60kg waifs?

Sorry Bossdog i am still drinking it's party time.

This kid will bring membership up over the next 10 years.

Welcome to all our Greek family.

Jimmy will win a brownlow in the next 6 years. Big call i know but put it on the record now.

I have the feeling this will be MFC Judd,Buddy,Swan

Our next true A grade star has been born.

Sorry guys just very happy.

Crikey! That Jose sure gets around!

Yes....I think it is a big improvement........Trying not to get too excited just yet......

I loved what Jimmy has said so far but I also go with what people do, not what they say. 4 years of a Barack Obama U.S. Presidency has taught me that.

Though I must say it is nice to have someone at the club who is excited to be there. I remember when Scully came. It looks like someone had made him eat a big s*** sandwich with all the trimmings.

It's very pleasing to see his reaction to being pick by MFC...... Good luck Jimmy.... Hope you can translate your form to the AFL.....

Agreed. He isn't big but wouldn't look out of place on the field at this level. Was watching the draft and they were interviewing Jackson Macrae, and the Mrs said '[censored], look how skinny he is, he looks like Cale Morton'.

yin v yan

black v white

night v day

Toumpas reaction v Scully reaction

Probably means " yay! out of Adelaide'

was it really necessary for OCD mods to merge the threads - I was at dinner stealthily trying to get the result and the first post on this thread goes back to june 30.. now I have to navigate through to find the comments after 7.20 tonight, seriously what is the point of that? I know I sound like a dick but surely it is obvious that this type of organisation, though well intended, actually reduces the efficiency of the site.

No it wasn't necessary to merge threads and there was no merger either with this thread or in 1996

What happened was that we changed the thread name once Jimmy officially became a Demon which is what we did with all newcomers this year who had an existing thread to their names.

Hope you enjoyed dinner.

I'm off to Jimmy's Greek tonight, myself.

Anyone see Wines' reaction when he was taken by Port? Seemed a little disappointed.

You mean this. We have to rescue him as soon as possible.

How did this guy slip through to us... This guy looks like a star. I hope others are jealous we have him ...

Thanks so much for the bucket of clod water. Please note one big difference....Jimmy has been playing senior footy for quite a while, not APS or TAC. In no other way will I attempt to compare the two : totally different players, and rôles.

Absolutely.

hopefully we can get him, maybe thru a trade down the line.

YAMMAS!

The LeighOak should do a roaring trade. Maybe add Lamb tho the Menu. :o

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
