I think he is probably worried about the up and coming stars in our backline (quite seriously).

He is having a cracking season, and has responded brilliantly to Neeld in my view. He obviously realised early on that this was the only way...

I mean, Frawley is set, and if Tom Mac, Davis, Watts and Garland all keep progressing as they are, it starts to look awfully crowded down there.

It annoys me that players are playing for their futures. The Geelong players play to win a premiership, as do all the better teams.

Playing for your personal future leads to selfishness and bitterness - it's the quickest thing (behind sleeping with your teammates Mrs) to create divisions within a Club.

This will be Neeld's biggest challenge, as our team has had a history of players playing well in their "out of contract year", getting re-signed, then playing poor to average the next 2 years.

Meetings that attain 100% buy-in can be pivotal eg. Geelong.

I know we all want to believe in our own self importance and see the 'end of days' for our world and our club but you're not that special.

The club will be around long after you're dead.

I think that the ultimatum 'playing for your future' can be a good thing. I can remember Garry Lyon describing Swooper Northey, around 1986, putting the hard word on a lot of senior players that if they didn't tow the line, he would move them on. While not creating a premiership dynasty, I guess a lot of them pulled their thumbs out of their butt because the team made the finals for the next five years.

One of them plays for a team that hasn't won a game all year, and the other almost always kicks more behinds than goals. Just because they're great players, doesn't mean their selfishness is a positive.

And to support the theory, you used two of the best players in the competition? Why not use countless other selfish guys like Daniel Motlop, Nick Davis, Colin Sylvia, and so on.

Franklin and Ablett are successful despite their selfishness, not because of it. And I don't even know if Ablett is even that selfish.

What theory? I hadn't realised I was putting forward a theory.

The first poster had said that selfish players would be shown the door... I cited Ablett and Franklin as two players who could be considered selfish (in Ablett's case, that is precisely what he has been accused of in recent times), yet it is highly unlikely that either would ever be shown the door.

No theory, just a simple observation. Is it getting to the point where we shouldn't comment for fear of being jumped on?
