Barty gone for 2012

Hope he's fit and firing for 2013!

the article makes it sound like he may struggle to come back at all.

Does anyone know his contract status? Maybe this could explain why he has been struggling.

Still, one man's misfortune is another's opportunity.

Yeah- whose opportunity will that be? Bennell's? Argh

Feel for the bloke. Makes you realise how much some put into being out there and representing the red and blue. Must suck when you want to give it your all but can't because of a failing body. Hope he makes a return.

Jeez doesnt take you long old dee!

Wish Barty the best for a speedy recovery. time to step up James Strauss

Not good. Thats its degenerating faster this season doesn't bode well at all. Good luck Barty. Hopefully a good recovery.

Doesn't sound too good at all.

In Fact RR it sounds very much like the end.

Just what we need the loss of a 100 game player.

I did not raise no.7

But when he was I could not help myself demonWA.

Do you disagree?

Just what we need. More serious injuries to small defenders.

For Barty's sake I hope it's not as bad as is being implied.

now we need both small defenders and small forwards. def some opportunities for some fellas.

Who do you have in mind olisik?

It's a shame. Not the classiest player, but he busts his nut for us & plays a key role in the team as midget forward tamer. Hopefully somebody can step up & fill that role well because presently we've got nothing!

Relax Old Dee ... He's got this ...

Worry less abou your fringe JB and you might be a player(not just a fringe player)

Very good RR

nothing like a little humour to brighton a sad occasion.

Can you just make sure he is not in the team that plays Brisbane on Sunday1st.

I will be at that game with my brother in the members at the Gabba

It is most unseamly to be rolling around the floor crying in front of your brother, sister inlaw and 5000 Gabba members

Terrible news for Barty, he's a great competitor and has had really bad luck for much of his career. I hope he can come back from this, it doesn't sound great but he's a battler.

Good luck with recovery, Clint.

Bartram is the type of player who could walk straight into Coaching imo like Mathew Egan has from a young age, his inclusion into the leadership group suggest this to me.

But here is hoping he returns, i think he is by far our bets small defender

I am sorry for Clint. I've watched his progress with interest as I work with one of his uncles and have seen him get tougher and give his all week in and week out. He also lays a mean tackle.

I hope he recovers well and back in the team sooner than later.

Got told it's not looking good and has no options at this stage.

Great little player and will be a big loss to our backline

All the best mate hope they can get you back out in the red and blue.

The Club and Clint are exploring all treatment options in the hope of getting his knee back to a level that will allow Clint to continue his career at the MFC.

Not good at all.

Poor guy.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
