Most fist-pump-worthy highlight from last night

The Sylvia bump (and trashtalk) on Bellchambers before the game.

I just went back to the start and saw that.... Holy snappin' assholes Colin can be a scary bloke when he switches on. That guy probably outweighs Col by about 15 kilos and he came off second best. Col was that kid in school who had hair on his chest at about 14 who you were scared shitless of.

My fist pumpers:

1 vote: Garlands mark on the lead. Nothing like taking a clunker with authority instead of a sneaky snap. Puts thoughts in the opposition's head.

2 votes: The messy play late in the last where they had 2 guys all on their own running onto the ball about 30 from goal, and the demons chased it down about 3 times in a row. They had no right to get it out of there and they did. I remember turning to my essendon fan mate and saying "you know it's not your day when that happens."

3 votes: I thought there was still a minute or two left, but being the first among my mates to see Garland on the screen jumping up and down hugging Neeld, realising moments before the siren that we'd won, and cheering on my own jumping up and down, making a fool of myself. That blissful few moments where in my immediate vicinity I was a genius who knew the result before anyone else.

So many great moments but my favourite was glancing up at the big screen and seeing Neeld and his troops jumping around/embracing. Still gives me goosebumps thinking about it... the raw emotion and realisation that we'd WON.

Will have to watch the replay again, but I think there was a time in either the 3rd or last quarter, when we got a goal that was set up from some great work around the wing. The camera showed a number of Melbourne players getting around that player, as his act meant the team scored. That's the sh!t I want to see.

I also pumped my fist when Neeld threw the headphones off and celebrated, but then had to hold the players back from running on to the ground because the siren hadn't gone!

Can anyone tell me why Garland was on the bench when the siren went? He basically was a match winner, yet he spent the last 2 minutes on the pine??!!

Two fist pumpers that stood out for me... Jones' banana, of course, and Garlands reaction to his own goal in the last... I've never seen him so animated before.

3 best moments other than the final siren that had me going were all last ditch tackles

1. When Nicho slipped and got up to make a spoil

2. Tom McDonald first on Alwyn Davey when he was clean through and then late on Zaharakis

3. Watts vs Watson 1 on 1 in the goal square, not many in football would win that battle, let alone a bloke who for 3 years has been slaughtered for his inability to attack and win contest

But the winning moment wa ssurely when Essendon played on from a free kick and Dunn mowed down Dyson, Tappy kicked the ball inside 50 and spotted up Garland. Went mental when that happened

Two moments that had me jumping out of my seat punching the air were Garland's mark and goal from the goalsquare and when the bombers had 4 players to 2 streaming into their 50 in the last and they fumbled then Sellar smothered and Rivers or McDonald cleared the ball out. Was going nuts cos I was sure the Bombers were going to get a goal there.

Watts vs Watson by a mile!

also the dunn chase and tackle which lead to a Garland goal was a highlight!

was glorious sitting amonst those frontrunners in the ponsford!

gave two blokes the biggest send off ever, after them telling me that a 80-100 point loss was coming up before the game,

they got up with 10 or so seconds left then left the ground, i gave them an almighty spray then pointed at the scoreboard!

ahhh it was sweet!

Nicholson's chase, slip, then recovery to smother the kick of his opponent.

Beautiful desperation!

It was, but that tackle shouldn't have been slipped in the first place.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
