The saddest part about all of this P Man, is that Brad scott is absolutely correct.

Tell me about it mate. I can't stand the smarmy [censored] under normal circumstances, but to hear him talk about a win against Melbourne as a given and know he's right....argh....

Even in the Daniher years Id often find it annoying that no one really respected us.

Thats when our Most Recent lack of respect started, we've had this lacking progressively over 40+ Years.

It's our fault, we allow it to go on. We accept mediocrity, & thats why we miss the Judds & G'Ablett Jnr's when they come along.

This is why we lose the Thompsons, Scully's, etc.

We turn our Nose @ legends like Sheedy & Matthews, why, to spite ourselves because we don't like them... they're too dirty. unwashed...

What a crock. Every team in the league would have lost those two. Watch the Pies lose someone big this year.

I also have noticed that the Ch7 promo "We love the footy" or something has random shots of playyers and supporters etc and while most teams colours are included one club is noticebly absent, although on reflection GWS may also be not there

Not inciting conspiracy but it does seem a bit of an omission that one of the oldest and original clubs doing everything to maintain the footy tradition is not even on the screen.

I would love to be corrected and someone can assure me that I am wrong

Therein lies part of the problem... just how much belief do the players really have?

I'll be there on Saturday, so I hope they find a spark (even though I have said that is probably the "kiss of death", I was at the Shanghai game when they managed to pull out an unlikely victory)...who knows, the smaller ground and the return of Jurrah (hopefully) may see them turn things around, although I have told my 10 year old to be prepared for loss :-)

I know they might only be 10 HT, but maybe feed them full of booze - it's the only way to get me through a game these days!

Not that I disagree with Scott, but the Roos have had a mini rivilary with us for the past 3 or 4 years, based on our young lists. He'd really enjoy sticking it in at the moment. Another in the media to do so at the moment. I think we'll surpass the Roos in a year or two though. Call it arrogant. Call it blind faith. Our list has far more upside than the Kangaroos.

Pretty one-sided rivalry, results wise. :(

In terms of young lists, the rivarly with the Tigers was/is of far more interest to me. Us suddenly looking like a medicore VFL side compared to them looking like a September AFL side has put an abrupt, hopefully temporary halt to that.

Yes I would call it all of those.

And your last point is proberly just biased.

What prove do you have for that?

It surely is not because of the last 18 months performances.

Whatever measure you want to apply to the two sides the Roos win easily

But I'll wager you're older than 10 :-) Still, I'll give it some consideration.... or maybe I'll do all of the drinking and he can be my designated driver.

Yeah, I'm trying to think of ways I can get him to meet a few of his favourite players like Jurrah, Sylvia, Green, and Jones. He says he'd be too shy, but I think it would make his day.

Ring the club hardtack Tell them you are struggling to keep your son interested in the Dees, wants to follow Manly.

Perhaps meeting a couple of players might get him back.

The worst they can say is no

Good idea OD... may try, but i'll have to hope they don't make a connection between me and some of my tweets to them on game days :-)

And if he ever follows those Many silver-tails, I'll be disowning him!

They do of course do one thing we don't do

i.e. WIN

Our own supporters keep asking why we can't attract quality players to our club, they just won't come here, except when we throw $quillions at them, & you say it's a crock...

Well we lose good players, but can't get them when we want them.

And I can tell you, other clubs players think were a joke.

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe
