Lucky to be as close as we are. My man Jones keeping us in it. As I thought, we just have no idea how to find a mark inside 50. Tommy Mac should have been dropped last week, and we're paying the penalty for it now. Bate is really becoming an important player for us, IMO. Neeld is getting the best out of him.

I can live with this. Morton ok, Watts needs to more. Multiple times we ignore the centering kick to a free man in the corridor. MUST be instructions to help learn the plan. Watts keeps presenting in the corridor, gets ignored and if there's a turnover, his man is free.

Tom McDonald has absolutely no idea. Plays the man way too much because he runs off him and then gets caught out. Not a fan.

It seems to me that Jack Watts never runs flat chat, yet the commentators reckon he comes off for a rest looking absolutely spent. Therefore, it's obvious that so many of our problems stem from our pathetic fitness (thanks DB).

Not many, but I've played even fewer. If I can see his problems, surely he should be able to see them too.

They are looking good tonight... lots of good pressure in the forward line. And for those who were saying Jones will never be anything more than a C or B grade player, I think his showing in the first four rounds is showing he is very capable of stepping up to be an A grader once the rest of the team catches up with him.

Great goal created by Grimesy. But Nathan Jones is doing things I haven't seen a Melbourne player do in a long time. He's still really young and could still go up another level.

I'm seeing Morton closer to the packs than ever before. He's learning how to play as an outside player but not so outside that he's useless when we don't get the ball. Repaying the faith a little.

    Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded.     Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was.
