Second sponsor

Interesting tweet from Melbourne FC this morning (18 April):

"The Demon Shop has lots of new casual wear available. Guernseys will be for sale when 2nd major sponsor is signed"

I'd like to think they know something about an imminent sponsor signing...but I suspect they don't.

Thanks for your constructive input.

There's a clue, they were discussing it Monday when I rang them.

They've been discussing it all preseason striker.

Like the onfield performance, I won't believe anything until I see concrete evidence informing me of a certain outcome.

No, when I actually rang the club shop Monday they were discussing what they were going to do re: the BOJ sponsor and the Reach jumpers as I rang them. I reckon they may have it on board and just sorting out that sort of thing...wouldn't be surprised to see another TFS announcement.

Ok, the Demon Shop don't know anything.

Ok, it's the bloody Demon Shop...

FWIW...

I have recently attempted to get the company I work for to step up and get behind the MFC.

Sent a nice email to our CEO, told them about the club, mentioned the statement it would make to get behind us after the previous sponsor saga ... etc etc etc.

Unfortunately that didn't work out as the business has some significant commitments elsewhere.

.

Anyway, during this time I had a chat with 'a relevant person' at the MFC to let them know what I was trying to do.

During the conversation I was told there should be some good news "in a few days".

That was last Thursday morning and obviously Webjet was announced that night.

Would it be drawing a long bow to assume that as they already knew Webjet would be announced that evening, the "in a few days" was about something else?

FFS, they've got back stock with Energy Watch on them and they're not going to sell them until they have a suitable replacement - how hard is that to understand. Have a look at this thread - they don't want more of this trouble:

I wonder how hard to screen somethiing else over the EW area. At least make them palatable

What ? Surely it's Jack Watts we should be attacking here ?

I reckon Cale Morton isn't pulling his weight on this issue...

Wont name the company but the club recently sent a jumper with a superimposed logo of the company where the missus works. They are a competitor of our old sponsor. Was def sent for a laugh but would be interesting if it came to fruition!

and thats suprising given his weight....its not a hard task to do...he aint heavy !!

Yes I saw this as well and was thinking that an announcement must be on the horizon. They are clearly confident of signing a BOJ sponsor this season rather than going through with just the one. Just a matter of time I guess...

im hoping for another footy show announcement

One would seriously hope they are confident!

He's my brother

ITS COMING.. and sooner rather than later. i believe Sunday might be the perfect day to announce some good news!

Gerard Healy intimated a second major sponsor announcement was "imminent"

Could it be TFS?

You are too clever for me on this one Dc.

TFS?

The Footy Show (for announcement) tsk tsk

Sorry DC I think the last 6 weeks has taken a bigger toll on me than I thought.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
