MFC Android App

Mono

Recommended Posts

I use, and like, the MFC android app. But the energy watch logo is still staying on the app. Uninstalling and re-installing doesn't fix it.

Anybody else use it, and still have the EW logo (or doesn't have it?)? The club says its been 'fixed'; I have twittered them, but no response.

Don't know Mono unfortunately I have a blackberry and there are few apps for anything on it.

Do you get anything more than on the MFC web site?

Just sent off screen shots to the club. We'll see what happens. Thought more folks would be using the app; its quite good.

When I first read the title of this thread I assumed that someone at Demonland was suggesting the players were applying themselves like androids, which may explain our poor performance over the first two rounds. If this is the case, could Hymie from Get Smart be rookied as a gorilla-forward? Daleks could be used on the interchange bench to zap a few opponents and the robot from Lost In Space could be used as a runner and cry, "Danger, Danger!" if Jack Riewoldt starts taking a few grabs. A cheer squad of fembots wouldn't go astray either...

Excuse my ignorance with apps, but what does it do ? What are the benefits ? Is it just an easier way to read the website on your mobile ?

An app (short for mobile application) is specifically programmed and "installed" in OS. As such it can make use of the features of your "smartphone" (such as GPS for example). This one contains articles / videos / stats / fixtures / twitter integration / access to demons shop / membership info / tickets etc

An app is distinct from a "Mobile version" or "skin" such as used by demonland - which is a mobile "theme" (enhanced / adjusted design/display of the website for viewing on on a mobile device - EG sized to avoid scrolling to read a single sentence) - and is usually just the same content via alternate url...

Checked my install of the app this morning and unfortunately still has the logos. Checked for updates of apps and it wasnt there. I know the club have bigger things to worry about right now, but it would be good if one of their social media developers gets onto this, wouldnt be that big a job to udpate.

As for what this app does, gives you a quick easy way to access all of the useful content of our website, its a great little app!

If you have a mobile device (not an android) and looking for something similar then there is this http://m.melbournefc.com.au/ which does similar things to the app (this is a "mobile version" of the site rather than an "app")

I'm a big fan of it too, really easy and useful. Just checked for updates to get rid of the logo - also can't see anything available.

Yeah not sure how wattsup has managed to lose it

Perhaps wattsup has the iPhone version - I have both, and there has definitely been no android update made available, yet there has been an iPhone update that removed the offending logo.

Contact the club. The logo should be removed.

I emailed them last night, with screen shots. Should not be hard to fix; they announced by twitter days ago that it was fixed; well before the iPhone app - clearly someone has got it wrong.

I have an android, but I'm not into twitter, etc, so I doubt it's for me.

But thanks for going to the trouble of explaining.

They have got it wrong... no doubt about it. The date of the last update according to the "Play Store" is 22nd March. They were promoting it today on twitter and I responded informing them EW is still appearing, so between all of us communicating with them in one way or another, they will be sure to get the message.

Had the following tweet response from @melbournefc: "we thought the logo had been removed. We're working with the AFL to get it removed asap."

Finally fixed on Saturday. Not sure why they are relying on the AFL to fix it.

Next problem: the EnergyWatch logo is on ALL membership cards!

The AFL are listed as the 'developer' of these apps. If you look in the store all teams apps are available

and they're all identical. So as part of their new rights deal I'd say Telstra have been asked to create apps

which are effectively mobile version of all the sites, replete with Telstra logos plastered all over...

With regards to the membership cards, there would be no cost justification to reprint them wholesale. Already

they'd be reprinting letterheads/stationary, as well as all the clothing/guernseys and advertising material.

Seriously, is it really a big deal? If Energy Watch is still on MFC apparel may as well have a laugh about it or ignore it. Not try and cover it up like its nazi paraphernalia. We know what's happened. We know not to use Energy Watch's services (I wouldn't have anyway even if the guy didn't turn out to be a lunatic). They're just two words. What's more important is that our team watches its energy on field.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
