Weve taken an enormous step back. Players loved and respected DB! We were gradually progressing. We are at the crossroads. I want Bailey back as coach of MFC effective immediately.

186 points was such a sign of gradual progression.

I have no idea what Dean Bailey was doing at the Dees for 4 years but it certainly was not teaching the players the basics of modern footy and implementing a robust viable game plan. And it certainly was not working our players hard enough in the pre season to get them to the elite levels of fitness reached by players at the Pies and Saints. for example.

Yeah because being friends with the players worked. Remember his 1st two games he got thrashed as well and Id like to think in Neelds 3rd year he wont be getting beaten by a record margin such as geelong last year.

Lets not forget wc played off in a prelim last year. We are no where near finals and its going to suck big time but he has to get the players realisng its going to be hard work this year.

I wonder how he will be in his presser.

You are a muppet. You were calling for his head the whole of last year and early 2010. I remember.

Neeld has inherited a basket case and a culture where players get a go whether they perform or not. rather than a few half-arsed bans for Blease and Sylvia to try and instill a different culture, Id cut loose if i was Neeld and tell a few players that they're future at the club is nonexistent - i dont wnat to hear more 'home truths' that lead no where. heads must roll.

i think the Bailey years are as far as I can see represent an unsuccessful rebuild, bad selections and the keeping of the wrong older players.

This isn't the Donvale Panthers.

There are contract and trading periods and things like that .

We cant just sack guys who have a bad game or 7 .

We have to develop them .

The Captains being 20 and 22 should tell you that we really are 3 or four years off .

I think your right we were better then port and brisbane and richmond when dean was coaching now we are par with gold coast poor club might well break soon very sad. I think this is all B.P fault he ran because he could see what he did to our club after we had so much power to get the best kids but he failed very bad.Hate to say this but we really need to start again and its time to clean out again starting from the top. Mark neeld has shown nothing but talk since he got to the club with no results to back it up. What happen to MFC going for the best coach and one with some games under his belt. rodney eade maybe malthouse ross lyon if we had balls and got in quick right now we have no sponsers no stars no heart and nothing but cheap talk from weak ass players who are killing this great club. Time to start over with a new board and CEO mark neeld has lost me and the board and the CEO time to stand down we are a joke and stand for nothing when we should be building to finals right now but were not and it sucks for all us members who keep going and watching this club roll over like a club with no back bone. Sorry guys but you might hate me saying this but this is the worst i have seen this club in my life GOD HELP US and lets not waste our compo picks again. MFC is like the old fitzroy

You can tell them that they will be playing at Casey and have no part in the future direction of the club. Ive seen it happen many times.

So crazy to speak of getting Bailey back. Especially when Neale Daniher is available.

Brilliant! The sad thing is I was actually thinking this during the week! lol.

I'm sure we would all take 3rd - 15th - 5th - 16th or whatever his record was right now!

Yeah, or maybe we could just hold off a little bit and give a bloke a bit more than 2 games to prove himself.

Everyone was thinking this. A comment needed to be said, gotzy15 only one who speaks his true mind. Here here.

No, I never thought it. Bailey was never going to be a premiership coach and that was made very clear long before 186.

Neeld is changing the culture, the football department and the club as a whole. That takes time, especially when the list isn't all that it's hyped up to be.

Reaching a verdict after 2 rounds is so premature it's pathetic.

I do miss the weekly farce of Paul Roos showing the vision and the stats to prove that we were defending from the defensive 50 and Bailey responding every week that defending from the defensive 50 was not our game plan.

I am sure the senior players would like Dean's leisurely pre season back too. How dare Neeld and Misson demand they work as hard the elite players do. I mean its fine for players at top 4 clubs to get fit enough to run up and down the ground as per the demands of 2012 footy but its a bit much for our senior lads.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
