  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This. The players don't live in a bubble, and the constant media pressure due to these events has to have taken its toll.

Due to limited supporter base of the MFC, surely these guys aren't as used to this amount of attention from the media! Better for them to experience this now, as opposed to when they make a Prelim (or similar), and are completely taken off-guard.

As always Dr.Mubutu Excuses

I'm DEFINITELY not saying it excuses the tripe served up on Saturday, but as we've seen, training is no match for the real thing. While the players no doubt will have had media training, it's still not the same as the spotlight being squarely on them.

I'm simply saying that it's better that they got this exposure at this stage of their careers, rather than being thrust straight in the week before a final.

A huge disclaimer - this is all about me me me.

I came away hurting and angry on Saturday. This is the first time in a long time that my mood was reflected identically by our coach as well. He saw some positives but even last night you could still see the smouldering.

Good ! Why should I be the only one with heartburn and dispepsia.

Dr Mubutu as dees supporters we have all made excuses for why we have been poor for most years for as long as i can remember.

We got a bad run from the umpire, the injuries killed us, if only we had enough money for a good FD, the facilites are below standard.

The list is endless.

What I am asking is to stop making excuses for poor performance.

We are plainly not good enough.

We were not good enough in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 as well as numerous other years since 1964.

IMO we do not have the players to rise out of the bottom half of the competition.

I would say that the lack of a flag shows that we were not good enough EVERY year since 1964.

Comedy is acting out optimism.

Hope is definitely not the same thing as optimism. It is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense, regardless of how it turns out.

I am not a pessimist; to perceive evil where it exists is, in my opinion, a form of optimism.

I do believe that most men live lives of quiet desperation. For despair, optimism is the only practical solution. Hope is practical. Because eliminate that and it's pretty scary. Hope at least gives you the option of living.

I find nothing more depressing than optimism.

I understand the concept of optimism. But I think with me what you get is a lack of cynicism.

If pessimism is despair, optimism is cowardice and stupidity. Is there any need to choose between them?

Look on the bright side. There's always next week, Striker.

Gulp.

Mmm...I'm going out Saturday night. I'll check the score at around quarter time. If it's decent and/or somehow we lead I might find a way to watch the game. If not it's no water off my back.

What a load of tripe. Talk about drawing a long bow.

Any one know where I can watch the Round 1 game again (I think I must be the only person who will ask this) - I forgot to record it... and I was at the game

The reason is that I think Manger's first 2 kicks were goals (because of the free)

MEANING that if this is correct he is the 20th player with 2 kicks/2 goals when debuing in AFL :)

Hows that for optimism!

Any help would be greatly appreciated, would love to get his name in the record books

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
