Blight comes to Melbourne!

Malcolm Blight along with Mick Malthouse are mentors to Mark Neeld. When Blight took over at Adelaide he delisted, not traded 4 senior players (McGuiness, McDermott, Jarman, Anderson), all champions of the club who bled whatever colors they have. If he were to walk into the Melbourne FC what would he do, who would he delist, who would he trade. Remember to trade you need something of value, not players past there prime you are thinking of delisting or the top up players spending most of their time at Casey.

If we get more performances like yesterday it becomes an issue, I think it already is in Neeld's eye as there was one little comment he made in his press conference, when asked if the performance really surprised him he said "NO".

My guess is there will be a number of senior players delisted at the end of this season and in the coaches turn of phrase "fair enough". There will also be a few that can't handle the heat in the Neeld kitchen who will go, "fair enough", and there will be some traded to help build a better list "fair enough". I've made my thoughts known on some of our senior players on other threads so won't labour the point here but one thing is for sure is that the list will have a very different look next season.

Would you like a Blight approach to our list? or are we too precious about our boys? Like it or not we have the Neeld approach for the next 3 years minimum and I think we are in for an interesting ride, very interesting.

# Green to retire.

# Davey to be traded if he continues to sulk.

# Rivers, X roads this year

# Sylvia, X roads this year

# Morton, X roads this year

# Bennell, X roads this year

# JMac, X roads this year

# Dunn, X roads this year

# Bate, X roads this year

as I see it.

I like what Neeld seem to have done with Bate, he got 10 touches in the last quarter.... good effort imo

Looks better on the ball than last year, fitter leaner, but was made the sub? maybe he liked his versatility being a taller player capable of running through the middle when needed?

But yes alot of players now feel the heat i imagine

this point definitely worth noting.

at c/wood he had plenty of time for in depth analysis on our players, he knew what he was getting. sh*t, most on here could see it.

he also noted within the first week or two on the job, you can't judge a footy club from the outside.

i won't speculate on what prompted that comment.

would think sylvia and morton* have some trade value and maybe dunn and bennell could upgrade some draft picks.

If green's out of contract he'll make his own way to a c/wood or hawthorn type club and maybe the same for moloney

joel mac will just drop off, maybe aaron too.

*this comes up moron in spell check

I find it very interesting that Brent Moloney escapes your list. I see Brent as one of the biggest 'diseases' at the club. I reckon he is sooking it up big time at the moment and from what I am told likes to get in the ears of other players. He is a good bloke Brent and we all know that he 'bleeds red and blue' but from what my sources tell me, he leads blokes down a somewhat 'unprossional' path. Sure he is in good shape and apparently trains hard etc etc, but he is well known for loving the party animal life too. Given that by all reports he tried to get out of the club at the end of last year, I feel he has cracked the sh1ts and has decided to sook it up big time. He was very lazy on the weekend. I reckon he might find himself at Casey this weekend. I hope I am wrong, but the bits and pieces I hear about Brent and his 'awesome foursome' arn't encouraging.

Bailey got rid of a few older boys too...

You have to be careful how you do it - because your senior players define your immediate success and if the kids can't step up, and your senior players step down - you are left with what we have now.

The facebook page is a non-event: some pics of Moloney, Jones, McLean, Watts, Simon Buckley and Morton? at a table and standing around a car. Updated over a year ago. Good grief.

Ed: Theres plenty more albums here: https://www.facebook...s/?id=553694988

Just social events; some with MFC players, some not.

You might have to log into facebook to see them.

Quite true. But given the Bailey is often holding the blame (albeit wrongly) for all and sundry thats wrong at MFC some forget that he end an era of senior players.

And indeed you have to be careful how you exit senior players. Its not just a random slash and burn that the torch carriers are wishing for. And the kids have to stand up.......

thanks for the link but says it's unavailable.

pretty obvious col is part of the crew, not sure which of the young blokes they have corrupted

Well, you know what they say about the word "assume", and that is a pretty wrong assumption on your part... Col is not in the photos which, as Mono correctly states, were placed on Facebook over a year ago. And just because some of the boys have dinner together, why this belief that they are a corrupting influence?

  • The point is, I hear Beamer doesn't respond well to authority and likes to think he is in charge all the time. Others have commented on him spraying teamates at training and the likein addition to the whispers I have heard. Probably why the new coaches didn't make him captain. But hey, whatever....

Plenty of drinks floating around. The other members of the gang seem to be Rivers, Jones, Col (obviously), Jamar, Watts and Petterd.

Yeah, I assume you are talking about the Derby day weekend album... how dare they enjoy a bit of social time together in November!

Sadly, from what I know of Beamer, I have the same concerns.

It'll either make or break him.

I worry also that his agility is too poor, and he is a great player if the ball is being shoved down his throat, but is a one-trick pony and not very good defensively.

Tackling hard does not equal good defensively.

But at least he's one that we could get a serious return on if we were to trade.

What's his free agency status?

listen Hardtack, if you wanna be a smart ar$e, try it on someone else. Was Brent stripped of the vice captaincy last season because he was out lat drinking beers? Was Colin Sylvia photographed at Baroq House after 186 and then on the front page ofg the confisdential section of the paper..Maybe your party days have past you, but if you are like me and still get out on the town you would be ashamed to see what i see.

Yes, and I am not much of a mind reader either... you commented on the Facebook link and I responded to your comments about the Facebook link; get off your high horse.

Hardtack, you are ironic! I said "You only have to look at his FB page". Not all I was basing it on. Read my post in full mate. From what I have heard blah blah blah...you seem to read what you like and then pick a fight..

Pick a fight??? You need to harden up a little methinks. I didn't notice the link was provided by you and was responding to just your comment: "Plenty of drinks floating around. The other members of the gang seem to be Rivers, Jones, Col (obviously), Jamar, Watts and Petterd." as was pretty obvious by the fact that I cited it, I would have thought.

And for what it's worth, I agree that Moloney should be dumped this week.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
