Melbourne's Financial Backing

Watt and Howe?

Recommended Posts

Learned from a very reliable source today that Mitch Clarke is very happy at Melbourne & that we have some well-known friends in very high places who are providing a strong financial assistance to the club. Obviously won't name sources, take it as you see fit...it's off season.

Dear Demonland,

I heard from a very reliable source (Judd's Grandmother, if you must know, and talking of sources she's certainly saucy!) some top secret info about some good stuff going on...but I can't tell you about it.

Anyway, just thought you'd like to know!

I knew that you'd understand that you can't actually know anything.

Take this as you see fit!

Love,

I don't think that you were in any position to disclose that information.

Very good news, can i maybe ask for details in the manner of this backing without who is providing it exactly?

Always nice for such news

We have our own Pratt family & they're maybe even more generous (I don't know the extent of Pratt support at Carlscum). They provide help in the form of open book incentives to help get deals done.

EDIT: Also MC was messed around at Brissy a fair bit - haven't heard of a player having so many surgery's in one season.

This should be of no surprise! A few months ago Don McLardy in a newspaper article mentioned that there were a number of quite wealthy people at the club who were willing to back the club financially in an effort to improve facilities/list/staff etc.

Of course people with real wealth don't throw their money away. If the results don't come I'm sure the money flow will stop!

nope not them; but glad to here them also if true

Redleg already indicated that it's not likely them given their support for Carlton.

You said in OP you have information, are you willing to divulge it ? If not, why start a thread ?

I was trying to keep it quiet but I am supplying Mitch Clark with a regular supply of flathead and snapper fillets.

Why not? It's not a slanderous rumour. It's something good about the club if true (makes sense with the amount of cash we're throwing at coaches and elite fitness staff etc...), and the info is being relayed to us die hards without the source being divulged, take it or leave it.

Or at least being that candid and honest about it. I mean really.

Indeed. Why?

Because the fact that this family isn't already recognized as being strong Melbourne supporters & financer's has me puzzled & hence I've drawn my own conclusion that they would want it kept private (don't know why). We all know journo's go on here & would hate for this knowledge to affect the club (again I don't know how but better to be safe then sorry).

Posted this on here because I was having some drinks with people in the know & wanted to share we are in a strong financial position going forward.

EDIT: You're right Deestroy; it has a lot to do with why we are able to have such an extensive & highly regarded coaching list + snaring/keeping a few players.

But you havent said anything of substance other make illusions of something important. And if you are worried about this affecting the Club i am not sure why you even started a thread about it.

    BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury. LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

After a bright start to the season, playing mostly in defence, Howes seemed to lose his way in midseason but fought back with some good performances at Casey and finished the year back at AFL level. Originally an NBL basketballer with the Brisbane Bullets, he moved across town in 2019 to the AFL Lions where he played 19 games before crossing to Melbourne where he was expected to fill a role as a back up ruckman/key forward. Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. His loss to the club was inestimable over and above his on field talent given his character and leadership qualities, all of which have been sorely missed.
